ssshhh its a secret anthony u could just learn to drive and pick better lines and not have to get a hybrid diff to beat your way thru a crappy line at the end of the day altho these diffs sound great another option is vehicle design take someone like 11evl's zook he only runs lux diffs yet goes exteamly well ,its a complete package not just a diff.ezzman wrote:yes i know who makes them, and i know who is selling them. that is why i posted it.WICKED wrote:ezzman wrote:Dragtec is doing this set up using the 80 series longfields with custom axles and drive flanges. i'm not sure about price but will be a decent upgrade for someone not having the coin to swpend on a hybrid diff.Big_GQ wrote:Pretty sure some one is building longfield cvs to suit nissan gq gu and then running hub adapter.has any one heard any more seems like a cheaper opion to me rather than spending big money hybrid diifs.

thats interesting to hear, my built 60 series only cost me $2500 am yet to break it thats a big yet lol, guess it comes down to driving style im not as hard on my rig as you im guessing, mines purely for crawling if it was for speed id be looking elsewhere, also forgot my rear cost me $300 just stock gq with welded lsd nothing flash but does the job and it is what i class as budget.

Dont get me wrong, if i knew what i know now i wouldnt of had so many breakages. The 60s diff i built for the 45 series is about as bullet proof as you can get minus 6stud forged knuckles.
When i started longfeilds were unheard of.

Sweeny's car works well but still breaks cvs. That's fine if you don't mind down time and waiting for parts. My longs took around 4 weeks to replace.johnsy86 wrote: PRICE AND PRICE CONDITIONS: $19k as is or $16500 minus tyres

Criddy hasn't got a firm price on the garner conversion yet.
Zoltan - I'm not surprised by that at all. By the time you buy 6 shooters, longs, locker, bracing, hubs, pinion spacer, gears etc your not far off a built diff but still have shit steering, easily broken Cvs and axles with a limited ratio low pinion in a weak housing.

What about running free wheeling hubs with no internals during the day and changing to drive flanges when your going wheeling?

Re: best budget diffs GU vs 80 vs MOG vs D60
The spindle will stop it floating out anyway plus if it's part time 4wd, obviously otherwise there would be no point, there is no drive to the front diff in 2wd so no issue with floating as there wont be rotation in the diff.ezzman wrote:what will stop the cv/shaft from floating in and out if you do that?WICKED wrote:Big_GQ wrote:I think they have warranty and cv's are servicable.would buy a set but my new project is road driven as well.johnsy86 wrote:i think thats the best budget offering here, gu diff with longfeilds

Re: best budget diffs GU vs 80 vs MOG vs D60
yeah i guess with no drive it should be alright, i don't think you would be able to do this anyway as i think the outer shaft is longer on the 80 series longs compared to the patrol outer so you would not be able to just rip out the guts of a trol hub to bolt it on for road duties. could be wrong, Joshy can you confirm this for us?
Re: best budget diffs GU vs 80 vs MOG vs D60
Won't get to the shed for a few days but think too long for manual hub, maybe an auto hub..

Much less than you might imagine. Most expensive part so far have been the inner axles at $2k landed. But for treated chromo 40 spline Mog60 steer inners, that's pretty cheap.johnsy86 wrote:still what i would class as budget, how much have your diffs cost you?

why does it matter if they are a solid drive flange as opposed to a FWH on a road driven vehicle

I love my dana60/gq hybrid but if your after a bolt in mod look at these For GU's
These are the same as Joshy has in his Navara and Craig G has in his rear steer river and mentioned rearly in this thread.

for a rear to match d60 front
Re: best budget diffs GU vs 80 vs MOG vs D60
I'm not gonna change what I've got, dont think it'll have any issues. That's the h260.440 BB wrote:for a rear to match d60 front
I think a low pinion H233 rear with 35 spline axles (same as my front) would be strong enough.
