Dashboard squeak

Post by HellfisH »

Okay so here's the thing, recently a squeak has started coming from what sounds like the right hand drivers side vent, I know some people say the rattle and squeaks are factory standard with GQ's but I've owned the car 12 years and it has its rattles and squeaks but this is something else, it's load, happens over the slightest bump in the road and is doing my head in, I've tried turning the radio up but I can still hear it, so next out came the drivers side dash section and I tightened all the screws and bolts I could get to made sure nothing was loose, I even stuffed bits of rag between the vent and heating duct to make sure nothing moved, put the dash back in and took off for a drive, I didn't even get out the driveway before it started up again :bad-words: next I replaced the bonnet hinges, which I had heard could be the problem but turns out it's not, I was thinking of removing the dash again and spraying the shit out of the area with silicon oil but I would prefer to find where its coming from and fix the problem, so if anyone out there has any idea where it might be coming from or what is causing it would be greatly appreciated.
Also there will be a prize for the person who comes up with the winning solution :)

It could be transmitted noise....... Not sure where GQ mounts are, but The body rubber on the inner front guard? Or under the floorpan area on the drivers side? Is the front guard securely attached to the firewall? All bolts are tight?
My friends aren't holding me back..... I'm pulling 'em forward.

Well I finally found where it was coming from, after pulling the entire dash out and driving it down the road turns out the squeak was coming from under the wind shield, a crack in the fire wall to be exact, so a bit of welding and putting the dash back together then took her for a drive and it's all good :D :D :D :D
