1 HZ diesel filters... help

Post by mellows40 »

G'day guys I haven't been on the site for a long time i was wondering if anyone can confirm or suggest the correct oil filter and best oil for my 1HZ 4.2 non turbo 105 series landcruiser...... I've still got the old fj40 which is now my permanent off roader but this is my first diesel I've ever owned so
I searched the web and the best info i can get on the filter is to use the Ryco Z334 oil filter.. is this the right one i need?
my second question is to use 15w 40 fully synthetic oil... is this right?
i'm used to using 25w 60 in the fj40 ..but its an old engine it's never let me down so with the 105 i want to get it right straight away so i have many years with it
thanks guys
Eric

for my 1hz I use ac delco aco32 oil filter. Usually quite a bit cheaper than ryco. Covs stock them. I have found straight 30 grade oil reduced my oil consumption. Everyone has a different idea. My scheme may not suit anyone else.

Yes the z334 or equivelant in your favourite brand. Yes that oil is fine if you like it and is diesel spec, most use a 15/40 in your favourite brand diesel oil spec. Diesel runs higher detergent, and more regular changes.
The diesel fuel filter needs more attention than petrol, change it regularly as well and check the water trap.

Cheers guys
I didn't know about the fuel filter so I'll add it to the regular oil filter changes
Good to know that the info I found was right but also to have it confirmed is an added bonus
Thank you very much guys
