200 series Driveshaft recall. Why?

Post by mike_nofx »

Hey all, got a quick question.

I have a 200 series rear driveshaft in my posession, have had it for a long time and cant remember the reason why I have it!

It was a recalled/replacement from a low km vehicle, apparently a common problem in the 200 series, but unsure what the issue is/was.
Can anyone tell me the common problem these shafts had, and is the shaft useable or junk?

Thanks

A bit of googling and apparently the problem is a clunking shaft. The "fix" done by some dealers is to file/grind away some of the spline, Does anyone know about this, and wether it fixes the problem or if its only temporary?

Some shafts (like the one I have) were just replaced.
