Hi
I am fitting hilux diffs under my Sierra, is the standard brake master cylinder enough for the brakes or is there an upgrade I can do?
Suzuki Sierra, 6.5 twin sticked transfer,f&r 4.88 locked diffs, full exo, ute chop, bead locked 35 claws,winch,long travel shocks,stretched chassis.

stock master will work but can get a little spungy at times. If you find a old GQ patrol 2 bolt master cyl they bolt strate up you just need to modify the push rod from the pedal to the master.

ive had 4 cars with hilux diffs/brakes with sierra booster and master cylinder
and neva had a spongey pedal

my car atm has hilux disks all round with stock sierra master and booster and i have no dramas at all :?

if you are going to get this engineered, they will ant an upgrade, I have a patrol one in mine and works a treat
.....If its not on all 4's its not on......

Standard one should be fine as hilux brakes are designed to stop a larger vehicle , and can be engineered , you might need a rear brake bias to avoid rear locking but not always , try it first , Cheers Paul.

Standard brakes will work, but from my experience there was too much pedal travel, as the larger pistons in the brakes required the small brake cylinder to move more fluid.
i took mine to a brake place and they got it a bit better than i did but still too much travel.
I put the GQ two bolt on and it was alot shorter travel and locked up easy with 37s.
depends on what you want, run standard first (because you have it already) then if its no good buy a new brake master cylinder.
if i wasnt going for rego i wouldnt have worried, but like redzook said, he had two cars regoed with stock brakes.

I might try the GQ direction, the pedal travel is a bit to much for my liking. How do I identify the correct GQ cylinder?

off the earlier models i believe.
