It is a pity! Because we had the event planned for the weekend after KOTR! But the Gun club at Lowmead wants to use their range the weekend after so we had to push it back to the same weekend, which is a bummer because I wanted to go Chen out KOTR! but hey who's going to argue with a bunch of people with guns!

Would certainly make for fast stage times and spectacular drives!

Ive been watching the youtube videos of the event and my comment was about you breaking the swivel hub off your bus.

From all reports, the Lowmead looks great for spectating, and I havent been to winch style events for a long time. Even got a group together for road trip!

The one thing KOTR has going for it is new location and getting bigger each year. (yet to have been to one either)

Ah righto, it wasnt running a cruiser diff when that broke. That was caused by the wide rims I was running and wacked the bank coming out of the dip. Lowmead is a top comp and it would be hard to decide which one to go to. Lowmead is not totally aimed at winch challenge, its more of a gymkhana style event. Some trucks drove all the walls last year. There will be some decent horsepower trucks running around again there this year and usually have 3 stages running at once so there is always action going on and it seems to flow well. Might see you there then Pauly.

This year we are looking to run 4 or 5 stages at the same time on the Sat morning just have to get Gudge and Pikels to help instead of being a pit crew in the morning. But I can't see it being an issue, it would only be until lunch time then they can do what they like.

I think it will all work out very nicely with a few smaller stages like years gone by and then a longer drive/winch stage heading off in opposite directions.

There is a working bee down at Lowmead in a few weeks time to set up the new toilet and shower blocks which will be located up the hill from the Sunday's man made stage! So if you are able to lend a hand please let Troy T or myself know as many hands make light work!

This weekend a fair few of the guys are down Lowmead for a working bee weekend, with male and female toilet/ shower blocks being set up and all the septic tanks being buried. So this year there will be more amenities for spectators and will be closer to the Sunday stages and spectator camping area!!
This years event will definately be the best yet!

This weekend just gone was Stage planning weekend for the event.

The Gladstone 4wd club and a group of top blokes from Bundaberg got stuck in clearing and marking and the finished product is going to have EVERYONE heading home with smiles on their faces (and possibly mud )

All 3 of the Sat morning stages will have competitors dipping their wheels into different sections of a sandy based creek and all 3 stages have the possibility/ definite winches. Some will be able to drive them, some will be towed up them and others will be running the winch rope! Oh and playing with their ground anchors aswell

The 3 Sat Afternoon stages are in a different section of creek. One will be a fun drive stage with a couple cool little obstacles thrown in to keep the drivers on their toes!
But I guess every stage that has been set will require competitors to be on the ball and work and think as a team to get through. The afternoon main spectator stage will be one of those! With a few options for how they tackle the winch walls!


It's going to be a great comp and there will be plenty of seat time for the racers. Will be interesting to see who comes out on top after the Two days and Two nights of racing!!

Here is a couple photo's from the weekends track planning, we weren't sure how boggy the sandy water hole would be so we sent Bits-A-Lux through and he made it out the other side and nearly to the top of the winch wall. The bog hole will probably get deeper and the winch will super greasy..... But i guess that will just make it even more exciting for the spectators when competitors have to use a bit more right foot

Here is a stage map for Stage #2:

This will be mainly a drive stage with one possibly two winches needed if the competitors have a bit of trouble getting up the hills.
The length of this stage will come close to 3km's long with some very fun twisty sections on the way to and from Loop 'A' and the two sandy creek crossing will be pretty cool for photo's if we can get a camera man down to them!.
