2001 Disco 2 TD5 help needed!!

hi guys
i have recently bought a 2001 Discovery TD5 auto, this was going to be my wifes, so that i could get the 1998 discovery she currently drives as my play car.
The TD5 developed a whinning noise coming either from the gearbox or transfer case. I assumed it was from transfer case as the gears shifted fine.
Can anyone point me in the right direction, in who may be able to help me determine the problem, where i can get parts that need replacing or changing, who can do the work for me?
Im in Sydney NSW so has to be local, if they are to fix my car. Or if someone has had this problem before and could let me know what they did. It wont get driven till its fixed as i dont want to damage anything further........any help would be awesome. thanks
