What is your average battery life? my last 2 batteries have run for about 3 years and both went from good cranking batteries to nothing, with no warning. Currently what are the most respected/reliable brands?

for me nothing compares to CAT.

4 year warranty, 2 full years, next 2 each pay half.

1000CCA battery i paid 175 delivered.

damn first time i fitted it up, and kicked her over the starter motor never sounded soo good, like i just gave it a 1000volts.

try any brand to even match the 1000CCA no one can get near, without being over double OR MORE the price, like optima.

sounds about average from my experience.
Try to buy from place with high stock turnover, they deteriate with ageing on shelf. Fresh from factory is the go. Short runs with not fully recharging also shortens life and hard enviroments and vibration.

My current century has been good value, now alive for about 6 years. Has been exceptional value

Over nine years I've run 2x d31 optimas in the GU, a d31 in an old v8 jeep, and now a total of 4 in the tj.... 2x d31's in series, a d34 starter and a d28(?) as a second battery in parallel to the starter that was in the car when I got it. Had two die in the GU, the 2nd one mounted near/above the turbo lasted 4 Years, the starter battery 5. Both were subjected to very high under bonnet temps during extended desert trips etc.

In between I was given some free exide deep cycles that were only 6 months old when I got them, Installed them in the GU and they each lasted less than 12 months. I got the optimas back off the shed shelf and reinstalled them.

X2 on the CAT batteries rugged design with massive outputs. Id like to see a patrol rattle a battery like a D11 can and still perform. They are very well priced also.

I wasn't aware Cat made batteries, I would have given them a go if I had known, oh well in another 2 years.

I too use cat batteries but i also have a Amaron Silver 'Hulk' battery. 800CCA Its been in there for 5 years now, been submerged, thrown around the engine bay when my battery box broke. Upside down. Left for months, fully discharged, removed and put on a concrete floor for months. Reinstalled, jumped and recharged perfectly. Quite an amazing battery really and cheap too!

Its a batt conditioner. Ive used it a few times over the years. A small bottle does a couple of batts. Made a tired Exide come to life again for at least a year, (sold vehicle with it in)
Put it in a Daihatsu diesel that wouldnt turn over cold and it was still in it 6 years later.
Current batt got 4 years so far.

The concrete floor thing is a myth with any modern plastic cased battery ... it used to be true for old ( and I mean really old ) hard rubber style batteries

Cruzaamad, I am interested in this 1000cca battery you talk of and was wondering if you had a reference number for it. Did you just ring up to order and how many amp hours is it rated for or mainly just a starting battery. Appreciate the input as until now didn't know they made batteries so thanks.
