yup she likes to wander the road too, YET to swap the spring hangers over on the front. and great steering, 140km/h and drives straight, as my friend had an older model.. will be done.
1hdt would be great with greame's turbo and eat those hills like a snack compared to kill my 2h on any hill.
tiny amount of rust but fixable.

it stuffs you after a long day drive, or doing 12hr shifts then try and stay on the road on the way home.

the 200 series SAS thing has been debated over at IH8MUD, i would imagine if anyone does one the yanks will.....

Having taken mine offroad i can say it is pretty awesome out of the box, but i have also done some minor damage in places my mates with higher trucks didnt bat an eyelid over, i nearly cried over the first scratch, gettin used to it now tho, but i wanna go more hardcore so i am getting a sierra to play with, the 200 will continue as the tow car and tourer, they are too big for serious wheeling IMO

been busy.....
on the landcruiser the shackle is at the front of the vehicle, and same for later models.
i was in one that had the shackle swapped, fixed at the front, and shackle at the rear..
we drove it on the road at high SPEED, and the vehicle drove straight as and never wandered on the road, and feel it could have drove 160 and still feel safe..
where as mine, and others are the same and are a handfull at 110..
the shackle flexing at the front is the problem, and makes the vehicle wander on the road.
my mates vehicle proved it, his was a 79fj45? mine is 84 hj47.
and then dave, MMM on here told me it requires a form, to allow that modification.. well that for qld state.

There is a really really good reason the fixed end of the leaf is toward the centre of the vehicle

Any stresses and loads placed on the diff like hitting a pot hole, hitting a rock offroad, is transfered into the chassis at the fixed end of the leaf.

The way toyota designed it, with fixed end at the centre of vehicle, transfering these loads onto the strongest section of the chassis.

you do a shackle reversal with fixed pin at the front, your now transferring these loads into the weakest possible point of the chassis.

This is why the regulatory bodies would want people to have this sort of modification checked by an approved person or engineer.

theres lots and lots of people who have done the mod successfully without problems

but then, my 60 series cruiser was leaf sprung and wouldnt wander around like a POS, i think your crocodiles might be in your suspension bushes or steering links

Agree with Shadow my 60 drives really good very similair if not same chassis as 47. Check you castor too and replace your steering dampner with a good quaility one.
I'm not quitting drinking, I'm retiring at the top of my game - sporting comeback likely.
