I'm in progress on a GQ space cab, have a look at the bodies and something similar may be dome with a GU.
I cut the wagon body off then picked all the the seams near the cut apart, then did the same with the back half of a ute cab.
Ute and wagon roof might have a different number of ribs like the GQ.
It's a bit rough but I'm learning as I go.

You end up with a cab with two B pillars. use part of the wagon rear doors to close the gaps.
add an extra set of rear body mounts to the chassis if required.

Surely a similar thing can be done with a GU.
