aftermarket seats for ln106 hilux

Post by adamj1300au »

hey,
im wondering if any one could shed some light on some cheapish aftermarket seats for a ln106 hilux, i am 6.2 and find the currents seats terrible, the hilux is used only used every now and then when i get board of driving the patrol. ive tried searching google and come up with the ideas of using the seats out of a surf or a mazda 323 but being on the taller side those seats arnt much use , ive also payed a visit to repco (dont sell seats any more) and supercheap (only the one and it was hopeless), so if any one could mention some ideas itr would be greatly appreciated

I have Monza seats in my Lux which have been in there for 6-7 years
I got them from Repco cheap years ago for less then $300 and just needed slides and mounts made.

I like them and find them comfortable enough.

I'm 6'1" no probs with these.
At the time I didn't want to pay $500 for surf factory seats (was what they were worth then) so that's what I did.

People have used skyline wrx Mazda seats, but I can only comment on what I have.

And Repco do sell them, they don't stock them but order them in. Did you ask if they could get some in to look at?

I put Honda Prelude seats in my LN106. I'm 6'1 and they are a great fit for me.
Here is the thread I did on the install -> http://www.outerlimits4x4.com/viewtopic ... 8&t=224025

I put some bucket seats from a wrecked Nissan NX Coupe into my Lux, 3 of the 4 mounts lined right up, and the 4th was very close too, small mods and its in sweet.

Id look in wrecking yards for WRX, Supra, Skylines, MR2, type cars will usually have the race type seats, and be very comfy.
And if youre handy with a grinder/welder, it doesnt take too much to get them to fit.

I don't know too many people that would spend 3 grand on seats, you can easily do it yourself for a few hundred, I've seen bucket seats from skylines/wrx go pretty cheap on ebay

Yeah I was being sarcastic haha I got a price at the 4wd show.

I've got supra seats in mine, I'd probably go WRX seats next time due to there availability..

As sugested look on ebay for seats out of higer spec ricer cars, some are even genuine recaros for a few hundred $$.
You can get a mounting kit and rails from ideal seat co to mount recaros into a hilux for about $750 for pasanger and drivers side if you ar looking for a bolt in no fuss easily engineered job - so round $1000 including seats

Hi I have aquired some Fg falcon seats and they look like they will fit with the modification similar toe the prelude seat write up.
Question is will i need to use the attached seatbelt socket or just use the standard hilux ones?
