My first event as driver, and by far one of the best events we've attended, very well organised and run smoothly, recoveries were great, amenities and catering awesome, good people & gorgeous property (note to self bring repellent next time) we had an absolute ball!

Only one comment; Next time can we bribe the icecream man to turn up on Sunday with some back-up trucks as well, he would have been very rich.

Congratulations to the winners! You guys were really good spectating. :D

I was stoked to drive the first 2 stages to the 80 point marker. Sunday was trickier but still so happy with how the 80 went for it's first comp, and best of all- no damage (apart from a bent tie rod end).

A well deserved Thankyou to the organisers and officials involved, I think it really set the standard for how an event should be. Can't wait to compete again next year!

Unfortunately I have no pics of our drive, if anyone has any pics of my car or of team 3, could you please post them up or email them to me at- emjem@tpg.com.au (Pink chopped 80 & Scott's blue lukeys built Lux)

A big thank you to everyone who who attended over the 3 days for leaving our property so clean and tidy, it is a pleasure to have you here.
Our new format of scoring worked ok on saturday but on sunday it was very hard to get points on track 4, while some of the top end cars made it look completely driveable ( jimbobs 40 series ) most struggled to get any points. Now that we have seen how it all worked we can plan our changes to the scoring for next year. Team work seemed to disappear a little this year and I think we need to get back to that, I think we could keep the stops as they are but with no penalty, maybe a free tow between cars but it will use 1 stop, bonus points if you use less than your allotted stops per track, with hindsight track 4 should have had a free winch at the first rock ledge that caused so much grief for many.
There were some amazing drives over the weekend, the best display of raw horsepower must have been Bogan Cable on track 4 trying to climb the first rock ledge, it was a couple of minutes before anyone could see if anything was left inside the dust cloud.
We will get a set of rules out very soon on what will be required from roll cages etc to pass scrutineering next year.

Thanks again everyone for a very entertaining weekend.

Tony as your first attempt with a completely new set of rules the event still ran smoothly and I didn't hear of any scoring complaints. Big congrats to you and your club for a top effort.

A big thanks to all the Canobolas 4wd club members for another great event and for building some new great tracks.
I was a bit disappointed that the new scoring method discouraged pairs from working as a team to get through the tracks due to the large penalties incurred .
I heard a few teams talking about calling it at 10 and 20 point markers so as not to risk getting penalties , no point trying to drive to 100pts only to get 5 points and a damaged truck.

That being said it was still a great event and based on Tony's comments above which sound a lot fairer and will bring back the team work and the incentive to aim higher, I'm sure the guys will refine the rules and make it bigger and better next year.

If nothing else there are a heap of trucks out there today which actually have working hand brakes.

Thanks again guys & can't wait to see what you put in front of us next year

I agree if the stop penalties and towing penalties were removed I don't think there would be a need for a free winch on track 4 in its current form.

Great event as always tony!
New rules did push the teams apart but like it was mentioned being the first to try new will have it's learning!

I think this years event and mainly track 4 truley showed the gain of Mog diffs. Being the navi of Nicks mog disco I didn't pick up a rock to pack all weekend and he didn't touch his diff on stage 4 step!
That being said there were some nice lines driven on that rock too. Team 32 the lithgow hiluxes drove it nice!

Great wkend !!

Phill and I entered this years Toperi Comp just for fun. We ran mid field in 2011, thought we could do a little better this year. With plenty of training days together, we knew our rigs could go the distance. We did TuffTruck 2012 and finished top 20, our first major Comp with the "Gravinator", thinking this is alright and we didn`t break anything.
Enter Toperi 2012, Phill asked me to lead the way. A big challenge, as he`s the better driver, didnt want to let him down. I went hard as I could, told him if I lay over, just drive over me and finish. He did. Never thinking about scores, I kept driving. He didnt want me to know on Saturday night we were top 5. I left early Sunday arvo after packing up, didnt stay around for the Presentations, never thought I was in the running for a Trophy or prize. Later Sunday evening driving though Bell Line Rd, Phill rings me, to tell me we`d won. I didnt believe him, about to hang up on him. WOW, who would have thought we could do IT. Our little Zooks. Go the Zooks.

Thanks to Tonys Property and the Canoblas Club for putting on this awesome Event, we sure did enjoy ourselves.

Wow what a fantastic weekend, we were stoked to take out 1st place on track 3 and 4
Big thanks to Tony and Penny for letting us all use their fantastic property and to the Canobolas club, you guys and girls have turned the Toperi challenge into one of the most professionally run events on the 4wd calender its fantastic to see it improve every year.

The new format seemed to work well, you defiantly made the best of a bad situation. It did take away the team work side of it so it would be good to improve that next year.

Thanks also to my Navi Borgy and team mates John and Jamie but the biggest thanks is to James (Jimbob) from JMW Engineering for letting me drive his 40, I dont know anyone else mad enough to loan me their car to comp. :D

Had a great time.

Tracks were alot tougher.

Its a shame that you guys had to drop the old points system but you did a good job introducing a new system.

I think rear steer needs a 2 stop penalty.
Portals need a stop penalty

No free winch on track 4.

See you next year!!

I reckon thats sounds fair
And also the dropping of penalties for the stops and make it time based stops and bonus points for not using them all would be a cool.

Thanks Tony & canobolas club for another great event, everyone from Lithgow club had a ball. I'd like to see timed tracks + stops. We were team 31 jason rosochacki & danny peters & I'm pretty shore we should be 11th not 27th, I thought we had a good drive especilly danny for his first comp he drove around me twice. If you could check this & correct it it would be appreciated. Thanks again & look forward to next year, Jason
