I was poking around looking for a block drain plug for the cooling system when I pulled out a bolt. Realizing it was not the drain plug I just screwed it back in and went and found the right one. Now the car will not move an inch when it is in gear.
Wtf have I done?!
It's the grade 7 bolt hanging down there in its own.
OK. You need to give us more information on the symptoms. Can you put it in gear. If so does it move or is the clutch just slipping like it isn't even engaged? These are two very different problems. That bolt doesn't have anything to do with your clutch.
Have you driven through mud lately? Have you done any off road driving lately. You need to give us more clues.
One thing you have said is that you had the slave cylinder changed. If you can't get it in gear then maybe you need to bleed the system properly or there may even be a leak in the system. Or the original problem wasn't the slave cylinder at all and it may be the master cylinder or even the clutch itself. Just because it was working yesterday doesn't mean it hasn't died since then.
Okay. Had head replaced last week, also bent rod in piston 3. Did cooling system flush amd radiator overhaul. Replaced all brake pads, rear wheel cylinders, rear drums bla bla bla.
Slave cylinder replaced as rubber boot was bulging with fluid.
Problem: 1. start car, put clutch in, shift into any gear including reverse, release clutch, car won't move an inch, clutch doesn't shudder or anything.
2. Start car, shift between gears without depressing clutch, no clunking, grinding or car movement!
Have not driven through mud in a long time, clutch has not shown any signs of slipping (high gears at speed) however the car tows a fairly heavy trailer 5 days a week. car done about 270000 km and is on the second clutch that I know of.
Did the engine come out? If so then maybe the clutch was taken off and not put back on to the correct torques. Maybe the throw out bearing is seized or you have stripped the spline on the input shaft of the gearbox or the inside spline on the clutch disc. Have a good look at the slave cylinder and make sure that it is not seized fully open as well. If you have a leak then you won't be able to disengage the clutch. The opposite to what you have. If this is all fine then you need to take that inspection plate off the bottom of your bell housing and have a good look. If you can't find anything then you will need to take the gearbox out and check it all properly.
