Hilux/Commodore A/C Hybrid
Hey guys
Got some A/C Q's
My v6 came with a compressor on it so I thought while everythings apart it might be worth my while hooking it up.
Since my truck deosnt originally have aircon should i use all commodore parts (condensor etc.)?
Also since my truck wasnt originally ac'd will I need to change the vent ducting or should I pull some out of one that had ac already?
I was hoping to mount everything myself so the ac mechaninc would just have to make the hoses and gas it up.
I remember something about ruff putting it into his non ac truck but I imagine this will be different with the alien compressor aboard.

Aircon fitting
You'll need to fit an evaporator under the dash. As long as there was an aircon option for your truck, one will be available to fit in the space available. It's a b@stard job to fit some of them, but genuine would be far easier than modding something to suit. The condensor needs to be mounted in front of the radiator, and then the whole lot plumbed up. If you can source a genuine or aftermarket kit for your vehicle, all you'd need is a bracket fabbed to fit the Commodore motor.
The factory hilux AC under dash unit would take the untrained about 1hr to install. Find all the hilux parts then just use the commodore compressor. Its a lot easier if you can also get both sets of lines for the commodore compressor and also the hilux evaporator.
If you can get everything fitted except the lines i can organise getting your lines modified and gassing the system for you.
Ps ive still got those plates you were after. Dave forgot to get them off me at Manor.
