Hey guys,

My 1986 single cab lux has developed quite the lean towards the front drivers side. It's got a set of RUF springs (with the leafs chopped and changed around) in the front, and was just wondering whether this was a common issue? A friend of mine has a 1983 extra cab which used to have the same issue, although not to the same extent.

Just wondering if people have the same issue, and what was done to counter it? A leaf or two extra in the front right pack?

The old hilux drivers side lean.

They make the springs a certain way to compensate for driver and fuel tank(which are on the drivers side).

So as soon as you start chopping and changing it all goes to shit? Not ideal.

You might have to play with your packs to get it sitting right, or put a block or something in there.

my lux had the same issue, was only really sorted with resetting the springs. a reputable springworks, like dumbrells in newy can set you right. or buy new ones. rockcrawler work well.

The fronts have slight more arch on the drivers side. But sometimes its the back as well don't be so sure its the front springs stuffed.

Also try to stick with stock toyota springs as the spring steel is better in them than aftermarket ones.

had same issue, drivers side went negative. got some newies from king springs and there was a good 2-5cm height difference between drivers side and passenger to compensate. i couldn't just to add more springs to my front stock spring pack as the u-bolt was getting way too close to hitting the drag link.
