1hdfte throttle issue
Hi all , I've just picked up a hdj79, an wondering about how it fix how the revs are slow to drop when changing gears ,
I've driven a few an the all do it . I unlugged the dash an drove it an it stopped the problem!
Just keen to see if it can be fixed.
I'm guessing it's to do with the fly by wire shit !!!
Thank in advance

Re: 1hdfte throttle issue
Know exactly what you are talking about from the wife's old corolla, but have not had the same problem with the Hdj79 and Hdj100 that ive spent a lot of time in. Assumed it was an electronics issue too, but didnt justify screwing with for the issues.

Re: 1hdfte throttle issue
Might not be the issue with yours but could possibly the fuel pump. Had 1 come into work a month ago use to just float up there in between changes. Now once we recod it just drops normally
93 duel cab lux. 2.8 TD twin locked. Big tyres, little lift. Wide stance. Barwork and build up under way

Ok cheers mate I'll get it looked at after the shops open again
Re: 1hdfte throttle issue
I could be completely off the mark with this suggestion, But have you tried to block off the EGR?
I have blocked off mine and have noticed an improvement with this.
While i was doing that, I had inlet track and manifold off to clean out all the crap from the EGR.
Did valve clearances and replaced injectors while there.

Re: 1hdfte throttle issue
Cheers James ! I got a egr blank here might try that,
Weird this is I had the dash cluster out puttin led bulbs in , an with out the dash hooked up
It ran like a non Efi one, no Revin up . Tried this again 2day , so I'm thinkin it's a sensor with bit of dust/dirty in the wirin

Re: 1hdfte throttle issue
The only things on dash cluster that go to computer is speed sensor out, Taco drive in and Bulb for check engine light.
Maybe the computer doesn't like the led for the check engine light. The bulb is at 12V both sides till the computer grounds the wire thus illuminating the bulb.
The speed sensor goes to cluster first where signal cleaned up and amplified then sent out to accessories like diff lock computer and engine computer etc.

Re: 1hdfte throttle issue
My 78 troopy is the same, have to wait between gears to get a smooth change and can't race the box which is not ideal when pulling a load or heading up a steep hill.
I would be interested to see if you found a fix for it, I thought it may have been a very heavy flywheel and didn't think of the electronic side of things.

Re: 1hdfte throttle issue
Diesel specialist in Sydney told me this was due to emissions control and ensuring what was coming out the exhaust was properly combusted.
