BJ75 V8 Petrol conversion Wiring issues
I have a BJ75 (short wheel base) with a 350 chev petrol conversion in it and when we got the car the wiring harness had been completely taken out of it because the previous owners had burnt it out but then replaced everything.
So i have put the wiring harness back in connected everything up and the car runs perfectly without a hitch, the only issue is that i have a few wires in the engine bay on the drivers side that i'm unsure of where they go and wiring diagrams aren't that easy to find nor helpful.
I'll upload a few photos so that you guys can take a look and hopefully help me out. The main issue is that i have a live white wire which is a bigger gauge which i have no idea where it goes. the same type of wire has been used for the main fusible link so i'm pretty sure its a continuation of it.... Was curious if there was something on the drivers side that the other end of that connected to? i'm at a loss for where it goes, thanks in advance for any help. Also that red wire is a wire we have going to the little tab at the back of the alternator but am also unsure if this is the correct place for it.

On that side of the engine bay orignally there is wiring for the oil pressure sensor and the vacuum sensor on the air box and wiring to control the vacuum solenoids for the 4x4 system and various other vac systems.

hrmmm i see, currently there are no sort of systems like that, that haven't already been connected or exist and the vacuum system also is not in this car. ( i know the one your talking about)
The only piece of information that could be helpful is that the wire is live, as in you can touch it to the body and it will spark (even when the car is off).
Not sure if i actually need to connect it up or i could just cut and tape it...(not sure that doing this would ensure that it passed the pits though.)
Are their any particular specifications in terms of wiring for passing the pits?

If everything is working as it should, ie lights gauges etc just tape it up an hide it. When I converted my bj74 to 350chev I ran all new wiring for the engine. There were about 20 live wires that ran into the engine bay in the main loom with an without the ignition on. All I did was cut an seal all the unused wiring then tied it up under the dash out of the way. I did use the 13bt oil pressure sender on the 350 so I could use the factory gauge.
Bit hard to tell on my phone but that wire doesn't look like it was part of the factory loom

Okay thanks, i will probably end up doing that, i've got a custom taco in the dash so all the oil pressure and voltages etc....are already connected. so i'll just do what you said and seal it and tape it.

Unlikely, being live all the time, but it could be part of a negatively switched glow plug or fuel solenoid system.

Yeah, it is wired like a stock harness so that's probably what they are, or something similar.
Now just to find the engine number on this thing and its just about ready to be licensed. Only problem is that i can't seem to find it anywhere....Any ideas for where the engine number on a 350 Chev engine is? Roughly...?
I know this is strictly "toyota" tech talk...but the engine is in a toyota.
Any ideas would be helpful, its not in the usual spot around the front left hand side.

If I remember correctly I think theyre on the top of the block behind the lh head, didnt pay too much attention to mine but I seem to remember a number around there. Ill see if I can find it in my pics

The engine number is at the front of the motor on top of the block (deck) where the head sits... part of the block sits out past the head.... so to find it look where the head fits to the block at the front of the motor... I can't remember which side (driver or passenger) but you should be able to see it relatively easily.... the number is STAMPED into the block NOT cast in (ie not raised letters/numbers).... it may even start with the numbers 350 if it's originally a 350... and if the blocks been decked its gone will need to be restamped
