V.W Dave i don't understand why you keep asking the same questions and are trying to dig crap up that clearly no one cares about.
If it was that obvious that they "bent" the rules and let Mal win then why is there not 59 other teams on here asking the same questions as you and also if they were cheating and that is the way TT is run then they wouldn't be getting 60+ competitors to their event every year.
Also can i suggest for anyone building any vehicle for any sort of comp if its not in the rules saying you can do and it doesn't say you can't do it, don't assume it is an open invitation to do what ever you want as more than likely you will get disappointed. Theres not one comp i know of where you can't contact or talk to the people running it directly so make personal contact with them and ask the question it will save a lot of heart ache.
Can't wait for next years TT2013 to be down there watching the action again.
Cheers.

VW Dave get off your keyboard and go start an event. Obviously you know it all and can do it better. I'm still waiting for you to tell me exactly where these courses were that you saw me drive that was so much easier than everyone else! Post a reply lets see if there are ant brains in your head?
Just in case you don't know it's the Mal Van here one of the people who you have accused of cheating but not backed it up.

What is one of the number one things that causes humans to make mistakes??? Pressure and the wanting to perform under pressure.
In your mind what one of these situations would you wrather be driving in if it was for points and possably a paycheck?
1) The entire track is surrounded by thousands of people taking pictures chanting and tawnting you. Hunderds of cameras flashing. Other engines running around you and revving out so loud you cant quite hear your navi giving instruction. All that causeing a little extra sweat that drips into your eye right as you try to turn on the front locker. What if you brake, You will then hold up the 10 trucks that are lined up behind you?
2) Only a Hundred or less people watching that are scattered around the track. No other trucks on the tracks around you. You can hear your navis every instruction. The feeling of not being rushed by the 10 trucks lined up behind you. You dont have that added pressure of if you brake your holding every one up. All in all it has less stress less pressure.
Take a wild guess as to witch one of these situations OPW has driven the last 2 or 3 tracks the past few years.

Mal, I have never said anything bad about your driving skill. Even in a less capable truck I still think you would be at the pointy end late sunday. I have said that a few times. It will be interesting to watch you drive the 40 this year.

As far as you cheating. That is not what I said I said you drove a padded track a few years ago. That was not your fault. When you drove a late track some of the damaged/broken buntings were not replaced. Buntings that could have been hit causing you to loose points but as they were not there it could not have happend. Thats why I called it a padded track. From memmory there was 2 or 3 turcks that had the same thing happen. I cant even remember what year that was now.

Dover, The other 59 trucks come because IT IS THE BEST 4wd even currently in Australia and if they want to compete they play by the rules and enjoy them selfs within the rules that are set for them.

As for the reason most teams don't stand up and say anything Pricey said it loud and clear on RR4x4 if anyone rocks the boat they will not be invited back.
Pricey;6502 wrote:
To be accused of cheating/bias or show any sort of favourtism towards ANY competitor is incredibly insulting. One previous competitor made his feelings well known to us regarding this, and he is no longer welcome at TT. We do not put in the countless hours to get this great event to where it is today, just so we can show favourtism to certain people. If any person believes that to be the case, then you are a bigger farkwit than i give you credit for. VWDave, or Tex or whatever you call yourself, its a good job you arent a competitor as you would have certainly driven your last TT.
I love TT and I love to watch the different idea for cars work and or fail. I love looking at how different most of the rigs are. I love watching the driver/navis all look at the same tracks but see them differently. I am very happy to say it is one of the best prepaired and best run events I have ever been to. I will always give credit to Pete for the job he has done with everything from employing the right people to having the right contacts to get good sponsors invalved.

I still stand behind and will not back down on not only my thoughts but most who have seen the video of the BS lack of points taken away on the mud run this year. If any truck INTENTIONALY leaves the track to avoid an obstical on the track its a 50 point penalty. Yet because Tazz explained to some one that he was going to intentionaly do it, It happen to be ok????? But to add to this a number of other trucks got the 50 point penalty after trying to stay on the track but happen to slip off in the exact same spot. To add to this OPW won that event.

Look as the truck is clearly steered up onto the bank around the big hole to the left of the second tyres dug by a few teams before.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xv9H9_21Dhg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Now watch as other teams actualy attempt to STAY ON THE TRACK not avoid and intetionaly leave the track but happen to get kicked off the track. These other trucks got 50 point penaltys but OPW did not.
Some of them did end up completely off the side but atlease evey single one of these guys attempted the tyres first not symply drive arouns them.

I am over it and its all now in the past and as always I am clearly wrong. You will hear nothing more about this from me uless asked.

You serioulsy need to rewatch all the video clip you just put up... when did TAZZ leave the course any more of the others.. he didnt the rule states

Departing from and re-entering course during a stage (per obstacle) - 50 points

Yes 2 wheels would have been off the course but as ALL competitors know if you still have your vehicle within the track it is OK. OPW had 2 wheels on the obstical and If bunted would have recieved a breaking bunting penalty...

I watched and navied on this track and 80% of vehicles did the exact thing.. just because Tazz did it first go doesnt mean the rule was broken or favourtizim was given.. If you think about it it was the smart option.... why waste time back and filling if your willing to take out the bunting and take a penilaty.. If you and everyone else were allowed which you arent up at the night run you would have witnessed alot do this.. do you see the 59 other competitors complaining no.. NOT 1..

Tazz probably drove those track late on Sunday after doing repairs, Remember Pete has also said that the 40 has had pinion problems at the event over the last couple of years
You look at the crowd late on a sunday its under half the crowd of Saturday so if Tazz is driving after repairs on sunday of course there will be less people watching ;)
Might be time for you dave to build a truck and have a go at the event!!
You have to remember the smart teams under stand the rules and as Moglux said sometimes taking a bunting penalty can gain you a lot of points in the long run!!!

That bein said on the waterfall track we aimed towards the first bunting post on the first step up, with the idea we take a bunting point for gain..... We lost 50 points cos we " deliberately drove off track" :s

Evan I was the stage manager for that track and what we said was if you aimed straight at the post on that step with full intention of driving over it it was the 50 point penalty but if you had a go at the step then took the post it was only bunting penalty. There was a clear difference between the 2.

Video shows otherwise.
I really didn't give a toss i was there to have fun and entertain not win!
Just pointing it out as it was brought up.
And yes as mentioned the course officials may change from the rules slightly compared to whats off the Ttc website. If it's consistent it doesnt matter. This happens at lots of comps!

Cant wait for this year! I'll most likely be a spectator though as haven't had any time to work on the TT. Had too much fun hanging out with the kids to work on it. If we can get some help with a few things like wiring/ hydro plumbing we may have it together but unlikely. The good thing is we will be well prep'd for 2014, with a good 9 months seat time. So I'll just celebrate 2013 as my last year on the easy side of the bunting!
