help wanted please guys

hi guys i have a 80 series petrol cruiser and im chasing a turbo manifold for it would any one have any info as to where i may be able to just buy the manifold as i have the rest of the componments needed for the job???? a few years ago they were for sale on ebay through turbonetics but cant find any for sale now, also have heard some bad reviews about those manifolds aswell!!!
Any info would be appreciated cheers guys

Definately spend a few bucks on the manifold, plenty of good performance shops should be able to fab one up, I just googled the turbonetics and axt off the shelf jobbies and while they are ok, they don't leave much room for upgrades, with a good maninfold your turbo will boost a bit earlier and disperse heat better too. Equal length runners for les turbulence would be nice and from my 80 and current 105 there is plenty of room for them too. Ask a few petrol performance shops what the go is. I would avoid a 'kit' if sold by guys who usually do diesel 4bs.

If its a low boost (sub 12psi) setup, a basic log manifold will be fine. It's usually only when you start chasing high hp and upping the boost that your tuned length manifold will give you relative gains. DIY log manifold will cost you under $200 in materials to make yourself.

The 1FZFE is very hard on exhaust manifolds, especially mild steel units. They fail mainly because they don't have the expansion section to cater for the heat. Whatever you build needs to be a 2pc unit if you want it to last. Safari wouldn't have gone to all the extra trouble of doing so if it achieved nothing. From my own experience, you are wasting your time with elaborate tuned length manifolds. A well designed log manifold will be more than capable of making good power. And a aftermarket ECU is the only way to get the best out of the setup. It's all made or lost in the tune.

I run a Safari turbo manifold modified for an externally wastegated GT3582 with a 1.06 rear housing, Haltech Platinum Sport 2000, 450cc injectors, 8.37:1comp, W2AIC.

This dyno run was done at about 9psi. Figures are at the rear wheels on pump 98Ron


I believe Turbo Glide in Wollongong makes a good cast 2pc manifold. Not cheap, but neither is doing something twice.

Make sure you pick your turbo first then you can get the manifold made to suit. I like the sound of the GT35 as above.

I had GT42R on my last street car and it had a GT35r before that they both gave great service.
