ARB Winch Truck Challenge: 13th-14th April, Mount Larcom

Post by Mosko111 »

#Round 1 has had a venue change, it will now be held near Mount Larcom#
Teaser--- http://stockers.cqoz.com/video/wtc-teas ... e=activity

Well the 2013 ROPS Winch Truck Challenge series has had the inclusion of myself, Troy T and Kirsty W into the organising committee and we have locked in this years dates and venues!!

Round 1:
Will be held on the 9th & 10th of March on a completely new property near Yepoon, this will be a blank canvas for the organisers to set tracks on and competitors won't have a home ground advantage thanks to it being the first ever event there!
Reports so far is that it is littered with gullies and hills and that as soon as you leave one you drop into another! So navies will want to be fit for this one and be ready to clamber up and down banks as they work their way through the stages.

Round 2:
Will be held on the 20th & 21st of July at Lowmead on Clarkey's Petrol Heads Paradise which over the last few years has been home to the Lowmead 3 Car Challenge!!
Initial plans are to race in the same area as the 2012 3 car event but use the hills and creek systems that were deemed to hard or steep for that event!
For those who spectated or competed at that event think Stage #4 (Zook Hill) and Stage 5 (Mud Mayhem) and you will get a bit of an idea on what will lay ahead for the racers! Plus add in some high speed runs and longer stages and it will make for a chilly but awesome event!

Round 3:
Will be on the 5th & 7th of October and will return to New Chum on the outskirts of Mount Morgan!! For this years event all new terrain will be used! Even Base Camp will be moved to a new area so it's nice and close to the competition area.
Plans at this stage are to have the Special Stages in the area between the All Terrain Rock stage from last year and the Sandy Creek Run! This area has some long loose hills, short sharp creek banks, V gullies, water holes and a few random boulders laying around the place. And will provide the perfect mixture to set some very challenging and longer stages! So it will be the perfect venue for Round 3 and the series decider!!

I hope to see a some new faces at this years events and hopefully guys from the years gone past come back to have some fun aswell!

Cheers Mosko

That's the go man, I would love to but I just worked out I'm working so even if the big girl was ready I can't make it unfortunately. That's a good turnout for mod class though, be a good chance for everyone to test their rigs and their skills against a similar crowd

Hopefully everyone in Rockhampton/ Gladstone and Boyne/Tannum are doing ok after the recent weather events and have been able to clean up and return back to work. We also hope the guys from down south like Summit Racing from Bundaberg and other past competitors are safe and well also!

A few of the locals from the area where the comp is to be held have informed us that there will most likely be some water still laying around for Round 1 and they have been busy wiring in bilge pumps just incase the organisers are feeling like sending competitors for a dip through some of the water holes

We won't know how much water is actually around until the next scouting trip out there (when the ground dries out a bit more) but we will shed some light on what competitors and spectators can look forward to seeing at Round 1 as soon as we know!

Also the photo competition winner will be announced on the ROPS Winch Truck Challenge Facebook page today and a new photo category will be started later in the week.

Re: ROPS Winch Truck Challenge: R1 Venue Change

Post by Mosko111 »

There has been a venue change for Round 1 of the Rops Winch Truck Challenge.

Round 1 will now be held on a property just South of Mount Larcom in Central Queensland.

Directions to the property are as follows:

If travelling South from Rockhampton, it will be a 75km trip from the Rockhampton Round about.
Travel past Mount Larcom (ML) as if you are heading towards the calliope crossroads (don't turn towards Gladstone at the ML intersection) 2km south of ML there will be a right hand turn onto East End Road and there is a sign for the Cement Australia quarry.
Follow that road past the quarry and onto the dirt road, stay on this road taking the left hand turns, it will be a roughly 10km drive drive from the highway turn off to the comp site.

If you are travelling from Gladstone you can either travel to the Mount Larcom T intersection and turn left then follow the same directions as above ^^ Or you can head North from the Calliope crossroads. It will be a 32km drive from the crossroads to the intersection where you will then turn left and follow the road until you reach the property.

We will upload a mud map prior to the event.

EXCITING NEWS:

The Winch Truck Challenge organisers would like to announce our new naming rights sponsor!

The WTC committee are super excited to announce that ARB will be our new naming rights sponsor!!

Since the beginning of the Winch Truck Challenge series 3 years ago ARB have been supporters of the WTC events and now with the position for naming rights sponsor becoming available they jumped at the chance to step up and put their name to the series!

As you may notice the logos and facebook page have not been updated to be the "ARB Winch Truck Challenge" but the transition from Rops to ARB will happen over the next few days!!

Along with ARB becoming our new naming rights sponsors we have had some new series sponsors also come on board, they will also be named over the next few days.
2013 is going to be a great year!
