Dose any 1 on here not what the difference between a patrol and a hilux 4.3 diff ratio is at all would a 4.3 patrol rear diff run good with my hilux front diff it is a comp truck it would be good get some weight on the back get rid off the shit drum brakes and off cores Coils

As long as ratio are the same and as long as the tyre size are the same it'll do fine. Put a cruisers diff under keep t Toyota. Use a 60 rear diff
93 duel cab lux. 2.8 TD twin locked. Big tyres, little lift. Wide stance. Barwork and build up under way

The Patrol are a better fit as the pumpkin is near centred like the hilux rear.

Isn't a Hilux 4.30:1 and GQ/GU 4.37:1???
If you main aim is extra weight, there's plenty of ways to do that. Just add more weight to the tray where you want it. If you want it unsprung, just gusset the crap out of the axle housing and go overkill on it.
As for coil springs and and disc brakes, can always just do that to the Hilux rear end and do it the way you want, not restrict yourself to factory mounting positions. If that's the case, just use a 90 Series Prado rear axle.

Yer I no weight on the back is not hard to get if that's what you won't. Because I all ready got a air locker in the back so the patrol diff LSD is a beast of a LSD so im just going to use the new newish model hilux 4 the width off it keep my air locker put falcon leafs in it big 200mm shackle s. Put a fuel cell and winch under the tray put the radiator and tool box on the tray should be good enough 4 the weight make a disk brake rear end if any 1 has any ideas on must have a handbrake on it thanks

Going to be a BIG difference in width between stock lux front diff and GQ rear diff, better off going both GQ diffs or as said go cruiser diffs.
Question.. Why are you after the weight in the diff housing? What tyres are you running?
My drum breaks work great, there not that bad even on 37's.

Im using 35s it was not the weight in the housing I was really looking 4 but it can help. My custom tray is a bit light so more weight the better pulling the suspension down. And drum brakes you should no how shit thay ar wen you get some water or worse mud and no hand brake. And that clutch you sed thatcomen in a wooden box called a 4terrain by rpm I think. And ar you useing the exedy safari or the pink sports 1. And have you changed your inner and outer hub gears 4 aftermarket items by any chance thanks

I honestly don't find my brakes too bad even with mud but I have double diaphragm booster and 1" master cyl and V6 callipers, for me it's not worth the change on that alone but I'm going to put in a 80 series rear diff in the rear which has disc rear but I need the extra width and want the strength.Hiluxpower wrote:Im using 35s it was not the weight in the housing I was really looking 4 but it can help. When I got brake test done they told me they were working 98% as per factory and that was on 35's
Yeh it was the 4 terrain, I broke that pretty fast and was wearing quick. This excedy is the sports tuff http://www.exedy.com.au/sports-tuff" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and have had it out when I changed gearbox and all Is good.
What do you mean hub gears, you talking the cromo long field hub gears? Coz I put them in with my track assassin cvs/axles a few years ago and are holding up.

Yer im looking 4 some hub gears might get them from trail gear in the states can't find them cheap enough over here any way its not needed right now so and I got hold off a exedy safie tuff clutch do it right the second Time round so I no it's good 4 the hard yards and the rear brakes I don't no but I have had just a shit go maybe Im hallways changing them cause thay just do not work wen thay get some mud in them thanks

Rear pads last about 30,000kms for me but I adjust handbrake after each mud trip and they seem to work great really. I also have full brake bias (adjusted bracket fully up) and new rear wheel cylinders help a lot.
But not disputing hilux brakes are average but in my truck with the mods I did to it it stops good (easily locks up on 35's but not quite 37" stickies)
I thought longfield were the only makers of the cromo hub gears (not sure on that but) so it's news to me.

Well one day I will find just what I won't what diff gears you running spinning the 37s maxxis treps I guess and coil rrar end 3 or4 link panhard or no panhard bar was it worth the. Time you put in to make it dose it flex as good as superior engineering drop shackles kit thanks

Heaps better flex then drop shackles, I run 4.88 nitro gears and use a full 16" of rear wheel travel.

I'm running 5 link rear with the panhard
I have a 4 runner coil rear end with a 4 runner adj panhard, moved 4 runner lower links up top and run 80 series adjustable lowers.

Very nice mate I have heard off people doing that might be a good plan did you just un pick all the brackets and ree weld them to your chassis and did you have to get custom coils made 4 it. Very nice truck mate hilux all the way and the look on the boys who all have patrols wen you can beat them in a comp off some sort

Very nice truck mate you got the buds customs front housing how good is the work he dose on the hilux. I have seen a few off his jobs 4wd in the glass house mountains. One good thing about living in qld. good shops like buds customs superior engineering and parks landcruiser park a and the springs to name a some

Iyou arent running lots of power you shouldnt need anything more than a hilux diff.
IFS housing and spacers or offset can sort out your width.
any rear suspension setup will work well if you put your brain into it, be it coils or leaf. leaves that are too short in the front section of the spring simply dont work well and the same can be said for a link setup with bad geometry........ and then there is the dreaded ladder bar yuck.
I know i was not asked the question but all bullshit aside i have not been able to fault buddys work, having driven my ute in ways that it should have broken and its still going.

My truck did handle Toperi without breaking a axle or diff and I did drive hard to get to where it went all good. I brought 3 spare diffs, 4 rear axles and spare long field for the front to the event EXPECTING to brake it but crawler gears and diesel saw me crawl just about everything i pointed it at. My down fall was lack of clearance with only 37's and 4" lift, that's what stopped me.
But them sticky compound trep's are a amazing tyre!! The grip is something you can feel especially when you've driven the truck for 7odd years and driven on a lot of different tyres.
I do agree with the above, but it is asking a lot from it and failures are still quite likely, like I said I'm in no rush to change but ideally a 80 rear for me would be better

Yeh sorry, wasn't watching.. Yeh prado tank.
The ohm's are the Same on prado so the fuel sender will work.
Plus LPG conversion places either give them to u or sell dirt cheap with senders
