probs a stupid question but im just wondering what type of plastic or whatever is used to make them homemade flares?

Alot of guys use the hard plastic garden edging that Bunnings sells.
I used an old real estate sign that the kids brought home one day.

You can buy it in a few different widths. 75mm wide, 10 meter roll was $26 at Bunning yesterday and i't's enough for a GU Patrol and it's pretty tough.

That's what I've been using for years and it works well.

So is that more suitable for the hilux oldlux? i've got a 1990 duel cab, so pritty much the same as yours. 150mm work well?

Yet man I can lost a photo if u want. Covers my 35"s nicely. On 16x10" -44 offset with IFS rear diff and wide track kit

Looks a little tacky I guess cause I had trouble getting it to roll properly as my gaurds have a few dents in then

The trick is to heat them up a little and screws every 20-30mm. The heat makes it alot easier to work with.

They are 75mm from memory, not a lot of coverage was needed as they were only 33x12.5 on landcrusier off set rims.

will have to try again with heat lol. cant do it that much as there isnt tabs that close on a lux unfortuneatly. i put a bolt as close as i could and cause its curvs in at the front and the back makes it hard to keep the width. i could of got rid of the wavey look but the top will be skinnyer which isnt wat i want. i need the width.

You could try a piece of flat bar on the outer edge, maybe around 10x2.5mm

You can every 20-30 cm on lux. I have

There is a small lip you just screw into that on a little bit of a angle.

I can get pics if you want me too.

I've done two sets on lux now and never used heat, just use the curve in it and push it hard against.

Ohh and a bead of sikaflex on the top edge between plastic and guard really finishes it off and stops shit getting in there.

Clark rubber also have some in 2 widths, is a little more $/ meter than garden edge and thicker, and more acceptable to the roadworthy test ppl who are fussy here.
