Tough Tracks 4x4 Challenge Series-Round 1

Round 1 will be held on the 23rd & 24th of Feb at Janowen Hills 4x4 Park.
This will give those who wish to compete in Tuff Truck nearly 2 months before heading down south to compete.
As usual we will have 4 classes of vehicle and will be revising the rules to cater for more style of vehicles.
There will be a GIANT raffle on Saturday night and some great prizes to be had.
Comp kicks of on Saturday at 8am sharp with drivers briefing.
Nominations will have to be done prior to the event as there will be no nominations on the day. This will be available very soon and we will notify everyone when you can start to nominate.

There have been some changes to Tough Tracks 2013

You no longer need CTP Extension for registered vehicles
Trophy class vehicle rules have been relaxed to accommodate new comers who wish to compete and sign up on the day
Trophy, Modifies & Challenge classes all now accept larger tyres - with penalties
Modified class no longer requires roll over protection unless you have a soft top

Obviously these are a gereralisation of the rule changes and a full list of all the changes can be viewed on the Tough Tracks website from next week

You wont be able to nominate or pay on the day(though there are some exemptions).

We have spoken to Janowen Hills 4x4 Park today and as of this morning they haven't received any significant rainfall to stop Round 1 of Tough Tracks 4x4 Challenge.
We will ring them again later on in the week and see how it is going but at this stage Round 1 is still going ahead.

**URGENT** Round 1 of Tough Tracks 4x4 Challenge has been cancelled by the park owners due to rain and the predicted 2 inches of rain to fall between now and tomorrow. We are sorry for all the inconvieniance this causes everyone. We need to check with Janowen Hills 4x4 Park but the round may be postponed till 9-10th of March. Sorry once again for this but it is out of our hands.

Due to the weather and us having to cancel Round 1 of Tough Tracks 4x4 Challenge we are yet to set another date. Round 1 will not be held on the 9-10th of March as we have had feedback from competitors that this does not suit. We will be having our general meeting next Wednesday night at it will be voted on at the meeting what the new date is. Thanks.

Round 1 of Tough Tracks 4x4 Challenge series is NOT on next weekend 9-10th March as it was to close for people to organize themselves and a lot of people had made plans.
We will be voting on a new date at the meeting next Wednesday night and will notify everyone via our usual methods as soon as it has been decided.
The proposed dates will be after Tuff Truck Challenge in NSW as a lot of our Challenge/Outlaw competitors compete at this event and as well as a lot of members go down to spectate.
The dates we are looking at is 27-28th April or 4-5th May. There is also a possibility that we will be pushing Round 2 back but this will also be voted on at the meeting.
So which dates for Round 1 suit you??

Aust4 changed there dates, sucks to be close together,
but why should Tough Tracks move for Aust4?

I've (and I know others have too) planned around the set dates and parks that where announced ages ago. Time of work, family commitments, holidays, etc its not right too change them now.

Ok these are our plans.
Round 1 will be moved to 4th-5th of May.
Round 2 is staying on the 22nd-23rd June at this point in time.
Round 3 is staying on the 7th-8th of September at this point.
There will be a scrutineering day for all vehicles on the 23rd March at Redlands 4wd Centre.
All vehicles wishing to compete in Tough Tracks 4x4 Challenge this year need to be scrutineered.

If you can pay online it will be a lot better. That way we don't have a queue up for sign in on Saturday morning and things will kick off on time(or close enough to it).

Thanks to the club and all of the officials for a good weekend. The outlaw class had some good challenging tracks, but somehow we managed to squeeze the Jeep through them all. Thanks to all the other competitors for making it such a fun, entertaining comp.

I would just like to thank all the competitors who came out this weekend and put on a great show of driving skill and also just a general great show with big revs and lots of wheel spin. It's a pleasure to be able to run Outlaw class with a bunch of guys who just want to have fun, drive their cars and not take it to seriously.
It was a very close scoring weekend with a mixed bag of winners on each track and none of them were rear steer cars.
There was a David & Goliath battle on between Rhett Bryant in his micro buggy running 33inch tyres and Brett Thorpe in his much bigger Jeep running 42's after the 2 tracks on Saturday with both teams posting a 1st & 2nd each on the tracks and heading into track 3 on Sunday with both an equal 1st place overall for the weekend. Unfortunately though for Rhett size did matter on track 3 even with some great, high revving driving action he got through to the last gate but was unable to climb his little buggy up the ledge, not without trying though.
Brett also got through to the last ledge and with a good run up, plenty of revs and a lot of bouncing got his jeep up and over.
With only one rollover on each track it was a smooth weekend all round.
Big thanks to Darryn Bradshaw, Steve Johns, Alex Bradshaw and my little mate Sam for your help over the weekend it's very much appreciated.
Thanks to all the spectators who came out to watch the show.
Hard luck award would have to go to Ben Henry for breaking his Atlas on track 2 and the Mathew Bond for tearing his rim out of its centre when he rolled on track 1.
