80 series hub flip

Post by Willy Hilux »

Never pulled a 80 series front end apart, but is there any reason you can't flip a swivel hub and swap sides to put the steer arm on top??? I can't see why it wouldn't work :?

Never pulled one apart either Aaron, but just thinking about it I could see pinion getting in the way, I'm thinking you could use a hilux low pinion centre tho.

Other than that, nothing is screaming at me that would stop you

Are the king pins vertically aligned?
Must be a reason or everyone would do it.

That said, I know nothin about cruiser gear. Other than they smash cv's a lot. :D

No way you'd be able to do it, even if you could, the wheels would have a stupid amount of negative camber.

The kingpins are aligned on maybe a 10-15degree angle vertically , ie draw a line through the centre of king pins, they are angled in at the top a long way.
If you could physically swap it around, your hubs would be angled up at double the incline angle so 20-30degrees
