Deseating bead on simex ET centipede

Post by bananas »

Never done this before, how is it done?
I don't have any special debeading tools. hi-lift jack or a tyre shop. I can't fit a normal jack under the vehicle while on the tyre.
I've tried jumping on it, that didnt work.

Block of wood ontop to spread load, put as close to edge of rim as possible without touching and use a highlight jack.

If you don't have a highlift buy one, their handy as. My high lift gets used almost every trip/ comp by someone and now their getting pretty cheap.

another way i've seen is trying to drive on it.. use the weight of the cars tyre to squash the carcass enough so the bead breaks..

I've also tried the highlift method but without much success..

I had the rear wheel off the 40 and used the weight of the 40 and the rear drum to break the bead by slowly letting the rear down on the tyre.. bit primitive but it worked better than the other two methods..

these are on 10.5 wide swampers on 5.5wide rims

I've also tried to remove valve and drive over tyre and had no luck, maybe a cruiser or patrol with more weight might be easier but not on my lux.

I hooked the highlift under the bull bar or rear bar and it did lift up the car a bit then popped off, just have to be right next to bead.

Good luck

Managed with a normal jack, a plank and a heavy log.
