DIY LPG Conversion.... pointers??

Post by oatesy »

G'Day, i'm looking to do a LPG conversion on my tb42e. I have a gas tank and all the kit from my cousins vn commo to use, but was wondering about the aux tank set up i need to use. As i wish to keep the dual fuel for now. I haven't had my wagon that long and am still learning about the ins and outs. I understand that the factory aux tank mounts up under the rhs rear floor, are these hard to find considering the age of the gq's? Can i just rerout the filler neck and pressure lines?

Any help would be appreciated, as i cant find what i need through searching the forum.

Either long ranger or LRA will sell you the right tank, or scour all the Nissan wreckers and search Fleabay and Gumtree for a tank.

The gas install itself isn't difficult, ESP now w ith the braided flexible lines used. I've done three and got a gas fitter mate to check each out after, he offered me a job lol

Yeah i have had a quick look at the lpg convet tanks by both and was hoping to get out of it a fair bit cheeper than what they are asking. Thanks for the insight but i think im just gonna have to try the old school trick nd just do the rounds at the wreckers.

You can pick up aux tanks pretty cheaply. Try all the forums, ebay, gumtree etc.

Just remember it needs to be signed off by a LPG installer. And unless your friendly with one. They want be interested in signing off someone elses work.

Cheers turps, yeah i haven't had a chance to look to far for the tank yet. My old man mentioned the basics of what i have to do and he mentioned getting it passed. I will be documenting everything i do with a my DSLR. Hopefully that will assist in the process. I found the gas bible on her last time i was online. A little dated but very helpful.
