WILL THIS FIT MY 80 SERIES
I have a chance to replace my diff centers. Will the following fit my 02/1992 80 Series Landcruiser FJ80 Full Time 4WD? Auto 4.0 ltr Petrol.
They are from a 1996, HZJ75, manual transmission, part-time 4WD, Troop Carrier.
Will they fit my 80 series???????
Thanks

Re: WILL THIS FIT MY 80 SERIES
should be ok, as long as you change front and rear... from a little research they have the same centers.Shieldsy wrote:Won't fit brother. Different ratios.
Re: WILL THIS FIT MY 80 SERIES
80 series has high pinion so steering arm clears underneath

So does late HZJ75...Shieldsy wrote:80 series has high pinion so steering arm clears underneath
As far as i'm aware they'll fit. They'll be 4.1:1 ratio, not sure what ratio your 80 would currently have. I'd suggest it's 4.1:1 too.

Re: WILL THIS FIT MY 80 SERIES
WILL ANY 80 SERIES DIFF FIT MY RIG? I MEAN - DOES IT MATTER WHAT ENGINE IS IN THE RIG? I HAVE A FULL TIME 4WD (2/92) , SO IF ITS A PART TIME 4WD, WILL IT MATTER?

I know mine is a LSD. Where can I find the ratio? So do you reckon I would be safe in buying it?dogbreath_48 wrote:So does late HZJ75...Shieldsy wrote:80 series has high pinion so steering arm clears underneath

Re: WILL THIS FIT MY 80 SERIES
part time or full time wont matter, same diff centers. They might be different ratios but that wont matter all that much if you're going lower and have larger tyres.
Re: WILL THIS FIT MY 80 SERIES
I have standard height and usual Sunraysia 15" wheel and tyres. So should I check ratio?outbackarmour wrote:part time or full time wont matter, same diff centers. They might be different ratios but that wont matter all that much if you're going lower and have larger tyres.

Re: WILL THIS FIT MY 80 SERIES
I found another diff (front) 4:1.1 ratio for 80 Series. High pinion. What about splines? They all the same. My rig is very standard.

Re: WILL THIS FIT MY 80 SERIES
The front diff from the HZJ75 will probably have done less km's and hence be in better condition (as it is part time 4wd) and buying a pair of diffs from the same car ensures you have matching ratios. As far as i know splines are the same between the two models (only changed on early 40 series and 105 series). I'm 95% sure the diffs from the 96 HZJ75 troopy will bolt in to your 80 series and as i suspect they'll both be running 4.1 ratio CW/P. The HZJ75 rear may or may not be LSD.

Re: WILL THIS FIT MY 80 SERIES
AFAIK all 80 series run the same diffs, auto, manual, fulltime, part time, petrol, diesel, turbo diesel, all 4.10(41/10) ratio. Also as far as I'm aware all 75/78/79 Troopy/ute before the V8 run 4.11 ratio(37/9).
All have same size rear diff centre, apart from the 78/79 when they go to larger rear axles. HZJ troop/ute run smaller front diffs, not sure when the petrols changed over if late 3F or 1FZ. Pretty sure even the 5 studs have the same size axles etc.
EDIT: sorry, I think the 1HZ powered 5 stud vehicles have a 4.3 ratio, turbo has 4.1. but these wont fit the 80 due to the different sized axles anyway. NFI what 5 stud petrol ratios are.

The old Luxy was fun, but with a young family comes great responsibility.
So I swapped it for a 60. Should be able to take the whole mob camping, plus I got an extra gear, 2 less cylinders and A/C.

Re: WILL THIS FIT MY 80 SERIES
I think the 75s changed from 4.11 to 4.10 at the same time as they changed to small/hp front.

Will 100 Series rear diff fit my 80 Series? I found a 80 Series diff for front (hopefully)

Re: WILL THIS FIT MY 80 SERIES
No, axle spline count is different. I don't think they came with a 4.1 ratio either but i could be wrong.giffo wrote:Will 100 Series rear diff fit my 80 Series? I found a 80 Series diff for front (hopefully)
