32'' tyres made it worse 14ltrs/100 I guess it had to work harder to rotate the bigger wheels.
Thats a big jump? 40% more fuel for a 3% change in gearing??? doesnt sound right mine used to jump maybe 10% when i went to 33's and again 6% off that is made up from traveling 6% further than the speedo thought i was so really only 4% difference.

which is really 450 km because the big wheels take it further. so about 11L/100km.

alot of people don't like the 3L but i reckon it does its job pretty well.

I have the 3.0L non turbo diesel engine and the best thing I did to get better fuel economy out of it was New injectors, Extractors and run Diesel Power injector cleaner through your fuel...went from 450kms to the 70L tank up to 600km...very happy

I know its not the same engine, but id assume its very similar in fuel consumption..

Mine does repeatedly return 10.5 l/100km around town. On the highway it is a bit less if i sit on around 100km/h
Reco engine (33k) pump reco, valves shimmed 15k after rebuild, timing set correctly.. running 31" tyres.

This may change as today it's getting a full beaudesert system fitted.

The 2.8 I had ran 33's and 4.88's and I always got around 12-13L/100 or about 350kns to a tank (standard 55L)

I have the 3.0L diesel with a turbo and I get around 14-15L/ 100 on 35's

Can't beat my figures for a diesel (high side) I get 35L/100 when I run my 37" sticky treps on road lol

Well I can't tell you numbers for my current rug as trip and speedo haven't worked for over 12months but my old 2.4 with 33s use to get roughly 550 to a 70l tank ( if I remember correctly)

What gearing you got? But I know mine is worse then that. When I travel at 100kph on a GPS I'm doing 3100 rpm so it screaming its head off.

Old g52 gearbox with 4.88's it's not that high rpm, think when it was on 32's it was around the 3100-3200rpm but now on 35's it's like 28-2900rpm.

Even though the truck sits on lower revs with 35's over 32's it still uses more fuel on 35's as it has to work a lot harder to push them.

Wasn't much different with the 2.8 only I have more power with 3.0L and it drinks more now lol

Yer I got 5.29 abd with 35s is screaming lol. It loves it but its just easyer to cruise on 80. Can't wait to bolt in some 37s and go for a drive it'll be a rocket ship. Also motor isn't a standard turbo 2.8 so it got plenty of balls

Just use this to calculate as you can't get correct figures unless it's full then do x amount of k's then refill.
I never new a hilux had a 55litre tank  standard for my dual cab is 65 and i've been below empty i have put 54 litres into it.. still 11 in it.. once only as i don't like running it down that much.

LuxyBoy wrote:Mine was getting 700ks to a tank before i got my timing belt done, but i think the previous owner must have dodgied the fuel mix because it has more power but only gets about 450-500ks now. I have had it checked twice and they say it is as per manufacturer specs. Adding LPG fumigation is meant to double your fuel economy and give the same power as a turbo; i will find out on the 25/1/06 :D
My father has gas on his turbo 2.8 rodeo and yes it makes quite a difference in torque/power.. but you wont double the economy.
