Urgent advice on TD4.2 conversioninto GU TD2.8

Post by Simo63 »

Apologies if this topic has already been covered elsewhere but I urgently need some advice regarding this conversion.

I'm just about to start on this and have been speaking with my mechanic who has thrown doubts that I can legally put a 1989 TD4.2 motor into a 1999 GU TD2.8 car without undergoing expensive emission tests that, according to him, can't even be done in Qld??

Anyway I'm looking to get some advice from others in Qld who may have done this conversion. Where did they get their mod plate from, was there any issue with the conversion etc?

Seems straight forward enough to me but the age of the motor seems to be a problem.

Cheers

I know its not very constructive but as if anyone is going to check. That particular body shape comes out with that setup so i'd just do it and don't worry about the bacon.

Lol, thanks Bowie. I think I've got it sorted now anyway. No mod plate required apparently
