Re: Is this a Good Buy?
02 model with 5spd auto.. sounds not right. they came out in later models after 03..04 maybe.
sister had a 03 4spd auto.
it would go for 27 to 30 grand.
cooper tyres drops the price to 25g.
mechanical history check.. timing belts done.
other than that, they a a great touring bus.
not many issues.
40g would get you a 03 model with low kms.. under 150k.. not many about, but some granny owners have them in the driveway, shopping trolley.. tow the boat.
pass...
NEXT..
accesories dont realy jump the price up alot.., its just a bonus for the new owner, not having to outlay the big coin on new stuff.....

In the last 12 ish months mates parents hve bought gxl 100 series turbo diesels both with a few accessories but nothing major.
04 manual with 80 000 kms and paid 46 or 47.
05 Auto with 12o ooo kms and paid 46.
Power of money for an old car but supply vs demand vs reputation & resale makes them still a good buy. I would certainly own one.
No way would i buy one at those kms for that price sahara or not. $40 k would probly buy you a gxl with 150 000 kms ish. You can buy dvd players aftermarket if you feel your missing out.
2nd hand 200's coming down but you still be in the 50-60 zone and time will tell a tale on the TTD later in life.

Re: Is this a Good Buy?
its been mentioned, that 100 series TD are holding value extremely well compared to 200 series.
200 are depreciating quite alot, compared to 100..
i cant see that ever changing.
1HD FTE are well and trully proven..
they should drive a 4.7 v8..
get a 05 06 very low km's.. and quite good on fuel.
40g should get you something around 150k or less....... absolute bargain buy !!
its the old....... but its a v8, drinks..
but in general they dont, unless towing a 3tonne van, or fully kitted out with everything.. then they do.
but you can buy ALOT OF FUEL with the coin saved..
towing mild loads return 16.. 2tonne..
touring around 12. wagon full of people..

Still a big jump to 70 k for a brand new gx 200.mkpatrol wrote:For 46 or 47 I would go & get me something new.
Each to their own. 50 buys you gutless shitheap unreliable st patrol. Not many other full size 4wds to compare which is what he is looking at
Dont even mention gutless shitheap dualcabs they giving away currently
So in answer i dont think its good buying personally as you can effectivelly get one with half the kms for a similar price if gel. Might even snag some accessories if your lucky!

I wasnt actually thinking Patrol when I posted that as they are more than 50 new. I obviously look at things differently, I look for value for money first, to me that 12 year old cruiser isn't value for money, but then I would not be looking for a Sahara either.
But anyway, I would drop 50 on this before I would drop 40 on a 12 year old one (obviously after a check to see if its OK): http://www.carsales.com.au/private/deta ... 850/?Cr=28
Now, comparing apples with apples? I found a few on car sales that were a couple of years newer for around the same price.

Re: Is this a Good Buy?
I would go a new FJ.
I could say a s/h 76, but I'll let you know first hand - they are no 100 series!

Not that I am recommending a Patrol but because you gave me the finger, putting the closest postcode to work the DX is $59,403 drive away and the ST is $63,136. Base prices, no accessories. Its a bit under $1000 cheaper in rural NSW.
I didnt go for either Patrols when we bought new either & only ended up with a Pathfinder because I could not get the car seats across the back.
BUT what I did do when I looked was have a type of vehicle in mind, not a brand despite having years of good service from my GQ.
I was dead set on buying second hand (never bought a new car before) but a lot of what was out there was either over priced or high mileage. I guess what I am saying to the OP, keep your options open, consider everything.

Re: Is this a Good Buy?
this is on lcool..
i personaly think this guy is dreaming what money his asking..
35 to 38g is more the mark..
he wants 50 GRAND..
YOU CAN GET A 06 MODEL with those sorts of km's he has, for the same price....
Change of circumstances has meant that one lucky buyer gets to buy one of the best 100 series Saharas available.
2002 model with 220000 Kms . This vehicle has been serviced with synthetic oils all its life.
Immaculate condition all set up to go around Australia but unfortunate circumstance has delayed my trip hence the sale. All mods/ accessories on this vehicle are 6 months old at the most.
Arb Sahara bull bar
Warn winch with synthetic rope
Hella rally 4000 spot lights
Arb rear bar with swing away jerry can and wheel carrier (1month old)
All bar work color coded
Arb sport suspension 40mm lift all round including diff drop
5 brand new pro comp all terrain tires ( 33x12.5x17)
Chip it power chip
3" mandrel exhaust from turbo back
Just replaced all brakes and rotors ( genuine pads, slotted and drilled rotors all round)
Snorkel
Tinted windows
Usual Sahara extras such as dual heating, cooling
Cool box
Roof racks
Rear diff lock
Absolute dream to drive bringing around 11.5lt around town.
Heaps of power and very economical.
Need to be seen to be appreciated , all gear near new and hardly used.
Call jamie to organise inspection 0417141078
Pics can be sent via SMS to interested parties.
Vehicle located Chelsea Victoria
$49,990

Trust me when i say you can get a new ST Patrol (auto) for $51k or very dam close on road i paid 51 flat and rrp's havnt moved in that time to my knowledge. I got mine previously with bbar tbar and spotties for same price on road 12 months. Manuals cheaper generally a couple of K. There is allot to be saved in good bargaining. A quick check on carsales see's several at very low 50's without even bargaining. I would love to be your sales rep if you would pay the prices you mention above.
13 plated ones be exact same once they sell 12's..... anyhow i hate 3L's and dont want to talk about them any more
Ultimatelly i figure this person has mentioned a 'Large' 4wd so i assume he wants a large 4wd. Why everyone loves to recommend medium/soccer mum cars in this case i'm unsure..... I can only think it helps others with Grimace cars their wives made them buy feel slightly less Grimace in numbers Kidding all settle down

Bingham is correct at 51k.
My 76 Gxl was 66k on road with diff locks, graphite paint etc. list was near 10k higher. I still feel ripped, it's a 30k truck ha ha
