4.5l GU motor?

Post by B.D.R »

G'day all.

Well my search for a new 4wd is coming to an end

Need some advise on the venerable 4.5l petty motor in the GU's.

What are they like apart from gutless thirsty pigs  , looking at an auto, so I am assuming I WONT be setting the world on fire, but it is the right price

How many k's can you expect from one if it has been looked after 300k to many :?

Any other foibles that might rear there ugly head?

Very reliable. Sold mine at 290,000km over a year ago and still see it around going strong. They are slow and sluggish (for a 4.5 petrol) but they take a thrashing and come back for more.

They are geared too high with 3.9 diffs in the Auto. They need 4.625 diffs to make them liveable and enjoyable to drive.
