Re: anyone know this car
Pretty sure that's Phil Swindales from ARB Tamworth, it has a RussTuff warn Lowmount in it, either twin or triple motor.
I don't have Mason's number but he lives up Rockhampton way in CQ, ARB Rockhampton, Stockers With Lockers and a few other teams run his winch set ups.

Re: anyone know this car
I just noticed where you are located, jump on the Stockers With Lockers website and ask this question there, they will be able to give you contact details.
Re: anyone know this car
Yes it was Phil old car, was sold to Phil Bell in Tamworth who competes in my ARB XWC Events.
That video was Round 2 ARB XWC in Manilla.
He will be there again this weekend for the event.

Re: anyone know this car
Gigglepin with hellfire gears would probably be (nearly) as quick and probably more reliable. Yes, probably more exxy too.
I had a good look at these and spoke to Russ about his winches....... Personally, I don't know if the exposed belts and gears would like the mud we get here in Vic.
All i can suggest is if you are going to go for a high speed winch, Use bow motors, as warn 6hp are junk nowadays. Ask me how I know.....
Btw, there is a vid of a triple motor Russtuff winch towing a wakeboard across a lake . yep, they are fast.

Re: anyone know this car
I know there was a clip of the boys doing the wakeboard thing up this way, but that was a quad motored high mount with custom gearing.
There surely is a bit of an issue with the mud/ belt slippage of the RussTuff. But it's quite easy to build a cover over that side of the motors.
The torque is the only other thing, if you don't have drive they are close to useless (I know that one from experience). The ideal set up is one of these mud mounted and then one of the choices of moded high mounts you can get. I'd go a Crazy Eyes twin motor high mount, from up here in CQ, but that's because mine have never let me down and work really well.

Re: anyone know this car
If you have the dollars, go Gigglepin, best out there.

Re: anyone know this car
thanks
I´m running a low budget jimny so no gigglepin for me... I agree that gigglepin or redwinch(the new boy in town) is the way to go. but they cost more than my jimny does
i´m running a warn 6hk xp motor on my warn 9000 lowmount. works fine but a bit slow. the jimny is 1100kg in total så 2x-3x the speed would be fine.

If that is the case, get your hands on a second hand 8274 and fit the motor, you will go real well.

Re: anyone know this car
even a 2. hand highmount is aprox 5000dkr. (1000aud). then you need the HD shaft from gigglepin. 2500dkr. (250aud)
my 9000 lowmount i got for free, and payed 3000dkr(600aud) for the winchmotor.
would love a highmount, but there must be a cheaper way

Sorry that is the best option.
Motors here are around the $420 from the right place.
Used 8274 from $500 up

Re: anyone know this car
You don't need the GP brakeshaft..... plenty of people fit them, but in a light car like yours I wouldn't bother.frede.gv1 wrote:even a 2. hand highmount is aprox 5000dkr. (1000aud). then you need the HD shaft from gigglepin. 2500dkr. (250aud)

A Bow 2 6.8hp motor from Gigglepin is a better thing again than your Warn motor.
If you want to make a highmount (or even your lowmount) faster, get a 24V alternator set up, 2 x 12v batteries in series and put 24v through the winch.
And/or get faster gears.

Re: anyone know this car
broke a 8274 shaft on my old samurai(sierra)
and if i were to go bow, it would be bow3.
overvolting will ownly give you 30% extra if you can´t charge the batt with 24volt. the winch will start at 24volt but after 6-8sec it will drop to about 17-18volt.
what ever I do, I´m gonna overvolt the winchmotor with a turbobox or the starterrelæ from a 80series landcruiser. would prefer a highmount with the 25% gears in the org top. then bow3 and overvolting.
think the hellfire will be to mutch with only one motor.
or????? any idears.
the confused dæne.
