RFW on Ford Courier
Hi I have a 2002 PE XLT 4WD Dual Cab and today when I was in 4WD mode I got stuck anyway to cut to the chase the front wheels weren't turning but the rear wheels were, I tried it it in 4H and 4L but only the rear wheels were getting any power the RFW light was on indicating that the front hubs were locked in. Can some one tell me what might be the problem and will it be expensive to fix.
Re: RFW on Ford Courier
There is a vacuum chamber on the front hub, track the tubes back to the solenoids on the firewall and check that they dont have splits/ leaks.
Simply check them by sucking hard on the tube to activate the diaphram in the vacuum chamber on the diff
If leaking replace the tubes, if not it may be the air solenoids - you can get them from wreckers for 20-30 bucks.
It could also be the vacuum supply from the engine , same thing , chk for leaks.
The RFW light may activate but if you have no vacuum then no engagement
Cheers
