Move to nissan tech if need be.
Anyone dragged 25 odd psi through one of these?
How do they cope?
Do they offer equalled protection from dust to std nissan filter?
I have a TD42 with 12mm swaffie pump and UFI 18g. not dynoed but should be getting close to the 200hp mark. Looking to improve flow/low down response from std snorkle and airbox with billett lid.
I have found a custom airbox 4'' in and out that runs this filter. Coupled with a 4'' snorkle is it what I need? Will it support more power if I want?

Re: Ford v8 air filter for turbo diesel.
Look up how much air yours draws on slow wide open throttle, and then what filter is rated to. Minus about 20% for dirt and overzealousness.
Its not about 25psi, its about cubic centimeters of air.

Re: Ford v8 air filter for turbo diesel.
I'm just running the Patroldocta stainless airbox with the standard Nissan filter, 4' snorkel and the same turbo and pump as yours. Mine was dynoed at 167rwkw.
Biggest improvement you'll get will be stepping up to a 4" snorkel, here's a pic comparing the top of the 4" snorkel to the Safari that was on my ute. When I fitted the snorkel I still only had the factory turbo on, it was noticeable though that it was boosting a little earlier and felt more responsive.
A mate questioned whether the Patroldocta box would flow well enough for the power on mine, the pic below is from the 4WD Action feature on Matt's rig from UFI, looks to be just running a modified lid on the factory box, so long as you increase the intake size to match up to the snorkel you may find your exiting setup with the billet lid is adequate as his is a genuine 200kw rig.

Re: Ford v8 air filter for turbo diesel.
I just wanted to shorten the whole intake from snorkle to turbo.
I would run the 4'' snorkle straight through the guard where the existing hole is and into the engine bay, move the charcoal filter thingo and put my airbox there. then one 4'' bend down to the turbo.
Can you fit 4'' down through the inner guard to the factory airbox?

Yeah I've read in a few places, CFM is roughly 2.5 times hp. so 500 cfm required.
I just wanted to know they can handle it. as in, no-one has turned one inside out.
I couldn't find for the life of me what that filter is rated to. either microns or cfm.

Ah, now I see what you're trying to do. A mate has done similar, his snorkel goes through the guard at about the same point as mine, straight into the engine bay and into a custom air box using an LS1 filter.gu town wrote:I just wanted to shorten the whole intake from snorkle to turbo.

I wasn't keen on the convoluted tubing that was supplied with my snorkel, ended up using a 4" stainless mandrel bend through the inner guard to the air box and 4" silicon hose along the length of the guard to the snorkel. I put a few sections of 4" stainless inside along the length of the silicon hose to prevent it from collapsing.
Re: Ford v8 air filter for turbo diesel.
cfm = 2.5 x HP for petrol which will be running at AFRs of about 12:1
a diesel will be running about 20:1 AFRs.
you should run about 800 to 1000 CFM "rated" filter.
more in dusty conditions.
Maybe two of those ford filters in parallel?
