Oldlux what sort of power are we talking? I'm mainly asking for a mate of mine, his is putting out 200 ponies at the rears I believe on 35's. chipped with a chip it and tuned to suit. He was saying that he ran out of air basically, more fuel just over richened and started getting hot. We're interested in the possibilities versus what it will cost. These are our work/ play trucks, his with more emphasis on play than mine. Sorry to thread jack slightly but on the subject of chips, does anyone run a unichip? And does anyone know if a unichip can be used to bypass the egr?

I'm getting 230rwhp out of mine, Unichip, 4" snorkel, 4" exhaust, 2" lift and 33's.

Custom tune, 17psi, 450-500 deg when towing 4t uphill for over a minute.

As low as 9L/100kms if cruising on freeway.

Much more potential for power but don't need it. I use the lockers in the wet so I can get traction. Haha

A little further a field, Zoltan where did you get your 4" snorkel? And how much guard had to be sacrificed? This is one thing I'm pretty keen on. 230 sounds like plenty to me, still interested in what can be achieved with more wind though.

Can you take it back for warranty or maybe do a back trade, seen better figures out of a 1HD-FT.

Sure, probably. Tow 4t 8000kms continuous so we can all laugh at your fuel bill and your broken crank and your cracked pistons and how I still made better time.

At some point we all have to grow up and put away our toys ;)

If we all put our toys away, the aftermarket 4x4 industry would be almost non-existent and our wives would be sick of us around the house all the time and not being in the shed soon enough.

I don't need to drive 8000 km,tow it all and the kitchen sink, all the good places are on the east coast

There are quite a lot of 1HDT & 1HD-FT having 200whp or more around the country, never heard of an engine failure yet, some are shooting for the 300whp that the 1HD-FTE has just about done if not already.

I know Graeme (Gturbo) has built one turbo to suit your engine and is testing it, maybe you need one to keep up :)

Look at you :). Talking smack about broken cranks and pistons. Maybe thats just a fear of yours from a pourly executed over boosted 1HZ?

Im a big fan of leaving and enhancing the stock engine. 4.5 or 4.2 doesnt matter. The same numbers and performance can be gained from the leaps and bounds of technology these days.

Yeah my cars are so weak, no gturbos. It's not like my 1hz does wheel stands or breaks 10000+nm axle shafts...

Oh wait, yeah it does :/

That's called gearing and torque multiplication.... Oh and having sticky 40" tyres

You might doubt gturbo, but just chat to him, he'll give you the time of day. You'll also see his genuine passion, he gets very excited about the work he does.

He finally tuned mine the other day, had the turbo for 9 months, and it goes like nothing else, instant boost response, instant and bulk torque, and its clean AFRs to boot.

19.6 AFR, 19 PSI, 1450rpm, loading it up.

You don't have to tell me bro, I'm not bad mouthing gturbos at all. He really does know his shit, which is why I always refer people to him.

More just having a stab at the people who bung one on and instantly think they are king dingaling.

Fairly easy to ask for a dig when quoting off topic engine figures Oh my king and I guess some of us digalings are having a go out there instead of just reading all Patrol power gains.

Image

and that was back then with a clutch that slipped on the dyno and a undersized W2A intercooler that boiled the water. That happens to be the 2nd upgrade gturbo this digaling has bunged one on in the last 18months and twice for the last one since that dyno run for vane mod by Graeme.

Ain't all this digaling has bunged on under the hood.

Image

Should be back on the dyno soon enough after the latest round of tweaking and changes and this digaling will post the charts up for ya king.

Then I guess the next thing this digaling will be looking for stronger replacement drive parts, maybe you can help this digaling get some help with that.

Congrats, you spent over 20g to get mediocre power.

I spent less than 5 to get just under that with a 1hz.

Like I said, dingaling.

I love how easy you all are to troll. Makes my day.

$20 grand, hey. not even close dude.

This dingaling doesn't have they joy of writing it off on tax deductions or buying over priced gear either and getting ripped off on offroad gear.

So if you can get figures close to that out of a HZ then well done, all bolt on gear is it?

come on guys! don't turn a decent tech thread into a dick measuring contest, gold plated or not!

there's more than one way to skin a cat, and who gives a rats arse what your dyno sheet says, or how much coin you spent. The only thing that matters is being happy with YOUR results.
