Front shaft clearance ,

Front shaft clearance ,
Just wondering in this pic there is an ugly front shaft , Has anybody done anything here to to give some clearance, Im thinking on using a piece of square tube and cuting it in on a slope if you get what i mean , any one ?
Series rovers have the same problem...
All i have seen done to help this on a Series was to cut a trianglular secion out of the top of the crossmember and weld in to pieces of flat plate to create clearance.
There was a topic in the Nissan section on a similar problem..
Sorry no time to search!

Land Rover Discovery - GQ conversion underway
We did similar on our project, cut a section of 150x100x5 RHS cut 100 long, trimmed off one of the large sides, and after cutting in a large recess as appropriate, dropped in the remaining u shape, trimmed to suit and welded.
Admittantly, not much left of the original c/member where the shaft goes through.......
Trust you understand what I mean, your 5" pipe should do the same trick.
