Warn High Mount Queeries
Hey Guys
Ive Done A search but cant come up with any recent info
Ive Just acquired a Second Hand Warn High Mount. I Cant Seem To find any info on it and the only numbers that are on it are 297017.... what do these mean??
Also What basic Upgrades do people recommend??
-the cap to cover the circlip??
- Fill And Drain Plud in The Housing??
- Support Brace At The Back to stop it opening up??
What Elseo Do People recommend?? I don't wanna spend a million dollars on it yet as Ive Just Bought it. I Planned On Servicing it and replacing all the gaskets. whats next..
Its Not For Comp Use Just for Use On The Front Of My Hilux Running 35/37s

Re: Warn High Mount Queeries
Cant help with the numbers, but I have a tapped drain plug, tapped fill which I also have a push lock 6mm air line run into engine bay and coiled up for breather, have a brace across two housings to help them stop twisting/breaking, 6.5hp motor, rebuilt with all new seals and bushes and heavy duty clutch assembly, I also drilled n tapped the brake shaft and made a cap to hold it all on.
Pretty easy to do as they are really simple and YouTube shows u how lol.
But u pretty well know this but thought I'd say what was done just for reference.

Re: Warn High Mount Queeries
Are the numbers stamped on the top housing?
If they are it should be the serial number. If you want to order parts the serial number tells what model/age as there are some differences over the years.
The mods already mentioned are pretty much all you need but I would ditch the factory solenoid pack and use an Albright one(Smithie Engineering sell them).
The 6hp motor with a good battery makes for a pretty quick winch for social use

The Numbers I wrote on the Op are the only numbers on there. but on the website I cant seem to find any info on them
Has any1 used the 6.8hp Bow motor 2? its cheaper then the warn motor on smithe engineering website
yer ive seen them solenoids might invest in them cheap as chips
also it has brake upgrade things are they worth it for the extra $80 odd dollars??
yer will be run off 3 Supercharge Allrounder Batteries (12V setup)

Try this page. it should have your serial number.
I am just using the warn 6hp but will try a bow motor on the next winch for my new truck

Re: Warn High Mount Queeries
My guess would be you are missing a digit off the serial number. 38631 part number would be model of ours as that serial number range seems close to yours.
Also try gigglepins website as they might have a listing

Re: Warn High Mount Queeries
Is that number on the top housing?
The number i put up was one of the 3 options of the part number on the website I put up under the 8274 which is the model number for the high mount
