“The Superior Engineering Short Course“

Round Zero Off Road Series


TITLE AND NATURE OF THE EVENT
The event will be known as “Superior Engineering Short Course” and will be a short course off road event conducted on Private property at Elimbah on Saturday 19th October. The event will be round 0 of the 3 round Short Course series. The course is approximately 6 km in length (3 laps) and compromises a variety of surfaces including dirt, rock and sand. The total event duration is at the organizers discretion.

ENTRY DETAILS
Entries open on Friday 13th September 2013 and close of entries is Friday 11th October 2013. The entry fee is $140.00. Late entries received after 12th October 2013 is $150.00
The entry fee provides for the driver, co-driver/navigator/s and two pit crewmembers nominated on the entry form. All entries must be made on the official entry form and accompanied by the appropriate fee. Any entries not accompanied by the entry fee will not be accepted.

All entries must be made on the official entry for direct deposits, confirmation must accompany entry form. n.b. original entry forms must be sent in.
The Event Manager only, must receive withdrawal of entries, no later than 6.00pm 12th October 2013.
The driver, co-driver/navigator may be changed provided the Event Manager receives this advice no later than one hour prior to the start of the event; such change will be subject to the approval of the Stewards of the Meeting. Competitors must also present their vehicle, helmet(s), and racing apparel to the Scrutineers.

EVENT DETAILS:

The race will be in 4 sections

Heat 1/ 3 laps (approx. 6 km)
Heat 2/ 3 laps
Heat 3/ 3 laps each with each heat starting at the completion of the previous heat.
Final Shootout
There will be a break between each heat to allow for track clearing and repair.
Total race distance approx. 24 km.
Vehicles may be started 1 at a time 30 seconds apart. Each class have 60 minutes to complete each section
SCRUITINY:
Scrutiny will be held on Saturday 19th October 2013 at the venue from 7.00 am to 10.00 am. All competing vehicles must be scrutinized prior to competing in the event. Vehicles must be presented to Scrutineer prior to participating. All vehicles must have passed inspection to be allowed to race. Additional scrutineering will be available by prior arrangement with the chief scrutineer.

DRIVERS BRIEFING:
There will be a compulsory drivers briefing at 9.30am Saturday 19th October 2013, at event headquarters.

RECONNAISSANCE:
Reconnaissance of the track will be held immediately following scrutineering. Reconnaissance in race vehicle only.

STARTING ORDER:
Starting order will be determined by prologue times or predetermined start order as directed by race officials

PASSAGE CONTROL PROCEEDURES:
At each passage control competitors MUST STOP, car numbers will be noted. It is the responsibility of the competitor to report to the start control at their due start time.

COURSE MARKINGS:
Will be in the form of pegs or bunting and signs marking direction.

LICENCE REQUIREMENTS.
Both Driver and Navigator must hold a current Drivers license

PENALTIES: per occurrence
Jumping the start – 5 minutes.
Failure to comply with a specified control procedure – 1 minutes. Eg Not completing a bonus line or obstacle
Shortcutting or other deviation from the course - 1st breach – 15 minutes, 2nd breach – exclusion.

Travelling on the course in the wrong direction – exclusion plus any additional penalty as deemed appropriate by the stewards.
Competitors deemed to be driving dangerously within the pit area and the various entries and exits or damaging property will be excluded from the event.
Failure to refuel or do hot work in the designated areas – exclusion.
Failure to follow direction from an official or marshal may render a competitor liable to exclusion from the event.
Failure to pass through control – 30 minutes.
Failure to report at main time control – exclusion.
Other breaches – penalties at the director’s discretion up to 100 minutes.

JUDGES OF FACT
Timing officials start officials and course officials will be appointed Judges of Fact, and, as such, their decisions cannot be the subject of a protest.
Facts to be judged are: Refueling, Driving, Conduct, Noise, Emission Levels, Jumping the Start, Failure to obey, Flag Signals and Failure to obey directions of an official, Deviation from track.

REFUELLING
Refueling must only be undertaken with the vehicle stationary, the engine switched off and with competitors and crew out of the vehicle. Competitors need to note the attire requirements for any person involved in refueling the vehicle. There will be an official refuel area. While refueling there must be a crewmember suitably clothed standing by with a fire extinguisher.

HOT WORK AREA.
A hot work area has been allocated exclusively for welding, grinding and other similar hazardous activities. Such activities are prohibited outside of this area.

AWARDS:
1st, 2nd and 3rd Outright Trophy & Prize money – Driver/Navigator
1st, 2nd and 3rd Class Trophy – Driver/Navigator
Additional awards or trophies may be awarded at the discretion of the promoter.

GENERAL
* Pit speed limit is 5km/h at all times.
* A speed limit of 10km/h must be observed on the property at all times whilst not competing or doing reconnaissance. Breaches of this regulation will result in exclusion from the event.
* No persons other than the officials, recovery, accredited media or competitors will be permitted on the course, except with the written permission of the Event Manager.
* The event organizers will provide recovery throughout the event.
* All children must be subject to parent/guardian supervision during the event.
* The entry form and disclaimers are part of these supplementary regulations.
* Dogs are not permitted on the property.
* Event organizers reserve the right to abandon, cancel or postpone the

SUPPLEMENTARY REGULATIONS

1. Both Driver and Navigator must have as a minimum - FULL LENGTH PANTS, SHIRTS, LONG SOCKS in a fire retardant / cotton material AND LEATHER SHOES (fire retardant), preference to full 1 piece - race suits and race boots.
2. Navigator and Driver must be wearing gloves when outside of the vehicle.
3. Seatbelts must by worn by both the Navigator and the Driver (minimum of 4 point for modified, outlaw and SXS classes). Australian Standards approved Helmets (in date) must be worn – AT ALL TIMES whilst competing.
4. Navigator must be in the vehicle at the start of each track. Navigator may exit the vehicle once the rear wheels have exited the start garage. Navigator is not required to be in the vehicle at the finish of each track.
5. Bunting marks the boundary of tracks. Vehicles are to remain inside the areas marked by bunting. Should the competing vehicle move outside of the bunted area by more than any combination of two wheels, it will be classed as a DNF. Points will be awarded to the last point’s cone passed by the centre of the rear wheels.
6. Bunting may be touched by Navigator, but may not be broken by either the Navigator or touched by the vehicle.
7. You must remain at least 5m+ (determined by travel speed) away from another vehicle unless overtaking at which point you must use your horn/siren/lights to warn the other team you are passing.
8. Excessive wheel spin will result in the whistle being blown. At what point you must stop and try again. Each time the whistle is blown it will be classed as one attempt. Track degradation shall be kept to a minimum; penalties may be incurred for each infringement.
9. A maximum of three 3 attempts are allowed at each obstruction. After the third unsuccessful attempt it is classed as DNF and points are taken from the last cone the centre of the rear wheels passed.
10. Centre of the rear wheels must be past any point’s marker to get the points.
11. In the event of a DNF points will be awarded to the last points marker passed by the rear wheels.
12. A cone may not be touched by the vehicle or Navigator. Penalties will be advised prior to the commencement of competition
13. Vehicle can only remain stationary for 30 seconds, if you breakdown you must advise the recovery team via UHF and remain in the vehicle.
14. Moving vehicles are not allowed to be TOUCHED by a Navigator. Preferred 1m min distance at all times. Navigator may only touch the vehicle if it is completely stationery and stable while on the track.
15. All points markers to remain untouched. If not it will be classed as a penalty.
16. All banners if touched will be classed as a penalty.
17. We do run more than one vehicle at a time, should you be asked to remain stationary by a marshal due to a blocked track you will not be deducted any points. You must also remain with the vehicle you are not permitted to leave the area of the vehicle.
18. If any competitor promotes unsportsmanlike conduct, is rude or abusive to marshals, fellow competitors or spectators they will be disqualified from the event.
19. The Event Managers decision is final. Competitors asking marshals about their points or other competitor’s points or anything to do with what or what not a marshal has seen or has not seen will lose 100 points.
20. Each vehicle must have its own Driver and Navigator. You cannot drive a vehicle in one class, than Navigator for another vehicle in the same class or vice versa. You can drive or Navigate in one class, than drive or Navigate in another class.
21. Drivers and Navigator must remain at the start of each track with their vehicle. Neither the Driver or Navigator are permitted access to the track prior to commencement of competition/heats.
22. No one is permitted on the tracks at anytime this includes spectators, etc. The only people permitted to be on the track are the marshals, Official photographers and the driver and navigator of the vehicle competing at the time.
23. Competitors are asked to remind family and friends to stay a safe distance from tracks for their safety, all spectators will be asked to move from areas deemed to be dangerous by marshals. This is for everyone’s safety.
24. Timing / points / penalties and the combinations which are utilised to allow placings to be determined, will be clearly defined and announced prior to the start of competition (at or before the drivers briefing).

PROTESTS.
To be lodged in accordance with the rules.

ALCOHOL/DRUGS
During any event, consumption of alcoholic beverages in the paddock, pits or any other portion of the competition venue under the control of the officials is expressly forbidden until all practice or competition activity is concluded for each day. Any driver or crew member who is found to be affected by alcohol on the day of the event or practice therefore shall not be permitted to participate. Competitors, crews or officials may be randomly tested for alcohol by an official at any time during the event(s).

CATERING.
There will be catering on site.

CAMPING.
Camping is available at the track at a charge, $10.00 per site per night, this will be collected/paid at the gate or with entry fees.

RUBBISH
All Competitors and supporters are responsible for the containment and removal of their rubbish during and at the completion of the event. Any items left in allocated pit area the competitor will be fined $100 or banned from the next event.
CLASSES AND CATEGORIES.
Soft top or open top vehicles must have rollover protection. (Factory or aftermarket) and Steel 1.6mm or Alloy 3mm roof plate and shall be fixed securely according to appropriate engineering minimum standards.
The decision to start, continue or finish an event resides with the driver of the competing vehicle.
Current Third Party rally extension insurance if the vehicle is registered.
Fully operational restraint systems.
Vehicles must have a fire extinguisher in working order.
Visible and working reverse light.
Must have snatch strap and two rated shackles.
Front and rear recovery points.
No agricultural type tyres or tyre chains are allowed.

SxS & Single Seat buggy CLASS
Maximum tyre size 30”.
Roll Cage must be approved
Window net to be fitted to both drivers and Navigator ‘s door
Maximum engine displacement is 1300cc
Tyre beadlocking devices allowed

STOCK CLASS
Maximum tyre size 33”.
Maximum lift of 2”spring and 2”body
Diff locks allowed.
Tyre beadlocking devices allowed.

By his/ her signature that contained within this disclaimer form, the participant acknowledge that he/she has read, understands, agrees to and accepts all of the follow to the extent permitted by law:
1. The participant acknowledge and accepts the inherent risks of the proposed recreational and leisure activity/activities provide by Superior Engineering/Massojet/Aust4Racing and the possibility of personal injury or property damage or loss resulting there from and that motor sport is dangerous and you can get hurt and that the vehicle is safe to enter/use.
2. The participant agrees to abide by the following rules of Superior Engineering/Massojet/Aust4Racing at all times:
a) The participant shall not engage in reckless or foolish behavior likely to cause injury to Himself/herself or any other person or property;
b) All participants must follow the directives of Superior Engineering/Massojet/Aust4Racing and its management and Staff at all times;
g) Any participant injured, or observing that another participant has been injured, shall notify Superior Engineering/Massojet management or staff of the incident immediately.
3. All participants agree to fully compensate Superior Engineering/Massojet for damage and/or loss to the property of Superior Engineering/Massojet/Aust4Racing where such damage or loss is attributable to their own careless or intentional actions.
4. All participants agree to indemnify Superior Engineering/Massojet against all claims made by any other person against Superior Engineering/Massojet/Aust4Racing in respect of injury, loss or damage is arising out of or in connection with the participant’s failure to comply with the rules and/or directions of Superior Engineering/Massojet/Aust4Racing its management or staff.
5. By participating in this/these activity/activities, the participant acknowledges and accepts that Superior Engineering/Massojet/Aust4Racing does not accept liability what so ever from:
a) All manner of accidents that may result in injury or worse and/a property damage or loss of any kind there from
b) Inability of the participant to continue in their present work profess ion as a result of any injury sustain;
c) Any injury or death or loss of any kind that may be attributed to acts of terrorism;
d) The forces of nature, including, but not limited to earthquake, fire, flood and landsides;
e) Accident to or failure of, machinery or equipment or industrial action that may cause injury or worse or loss of any kind.
6. The participant understand and acknowledges the dangers associated with consumption of alcohol and mind altering substances before or during the Superior Engineering/Massojet/Aust4Racing activities, and the participant accepts full responsibility for injury, loss or damage associated with any such consumption.
7. If the participant suffers any injury or illness, the participant agrees and consents that Superior Engineering/Massojet/Aust4Racing may provide evacuation, first aid and medical treatment at the participant’s expense.
8. The participant releases, waives and forever holds harmless Superior Engineering/Massojet/Aust4Racing from all claims for any loss sustained by him/her in connection with the Superior Engineering/Massojet/Aust4Racing activity/activities.
9. The participant agrees that the terms and conditions contained herein may be pleaded as a bar to any action, suit or proceedings taken at any time by the participant against Superior Engineering/Massojet arising out of or as a consequence or participation in the Superior Engineering/Massojet/Aust4Racing activity/activities.
10. By personally executing this disclaimer form the participant warrants that he/she is at least eighteen (18) years of age. Where this disclaimer form is executed by a parent, guardian or other person, for and on behalf of the participant the person executing this disclaimer form warrants that he/she has authority to do so and that such parent, guardian or other person, agrees to indemnify Superior Engineering/Massojet in terms of the indemnity contained in clause 4 hereof.
