R151f Gearbox to v8
want to know when using R151f Gearbox how do I connect the wire that comes out the transfer case or do I just leave it.
It will be going into a 85 hilux and if I need to use the wire what do I connect then to and can someone give me a diagram how to connect it
should I leave it chain driven or go gear driven I have the g52 atm behind the v8
would it be easier to leave it chain driven then change it to gears later

Re: R151f Gearbox to v8
The wire is just for the 4x4 light on your dash but I think most people are snaty enough to know when it's in 4x4.
Also gear drive is better a lot stronger and also can get after Market parts for them unlike the chain driven versions

Re: R151f Gearbox to v8
Chain drive from 151f has electronic speedo as well where as gear drive from g52 is mechanical.
Depending on wire you're talking about you'll need to hook it up if it's the ADD style transfer case as there's a 12V actuator that needs power to engage 4WD. If the donor transfer came from a vehicle with FWH you won't need to hook it up.
Hope this helps a bit.

What do we want? TIME TRAVEL! When do we want it? THAT'S IRRELEVANT!
Re: R151f Gearbox to v8
Not all R151F have electronic speedo, my SR5 Runner came with mechanical speedo, but it is something you need to check.
These boxes have a good lo range 1st ratio if you aren't competing and I have yet to hear of a chain drive failing in the real world.
What V8 are you using, if a Holden then you just need a suitable spigot bearing for the crank, as Uhh Ohh said a very cheap part.
Toyotaa Dyna 21 spline 9.5" clutch plate with a Holden 10" clutch will work fine too.
May have to sleeve down the clutch slave cylinder to get enough throw on the clutch as well.
Cheers

Re: R151f Gearbox to v8
i have already put the v8 304 in already and did the clutch already so the clutch I'm using will be ok to use so i just need to change the bellhousing and will the drive shafts have to be changed aswell so what do the gearbox r151f with a gear driven speedo come from and will be the same as the g52
Re: R151f Gearbox to v8
What do I need to change when I'm doing the change beside the belhousing can I still use the g52 conversion or do I need all new part's to put behind the v8 as I have already did the conversion .
Re: R151f Gearbox to v8
You may need a V6 4 Runner throw out fork and thrust bearing.
When the Holden conversion is done to hi luxes/4 runners the R151 gets moved back about 80mm, so you may need to change drive shaft lengths, just not sure what your car already has.
