bloody bell housings bolts

Hey everyone

Im halfway through removing my gearbox with only the last two bell housings bolts to go.
My problem is I don't have enough room to swing a
Spanner or socket
Wondering if anyone has any tips on making room to get to it?

Any ideas would be great

The dodgy brothers method is to cut a hole in the body.

But the usual way is to use a really long extension bar and swing the ratchet from behind the transfer. A wobbly joint, or wobbly extension bar helps.

Yup, drop the rear of the gearbox right down and get a looooong extension bar.

Managed to get the bolts by dropping the back of the gearbox.

Anyone got any tips on sliding the box of the back of the engine?
Was thinking rather then a trolley jack, id use two ratchet straps over the chassis rails and under the box and lower it down.

Might be more easy to slide it off that way

Ratchet straps dont lower, they just undo with a bang! and your gearbox is suddenly on the ground or in your lap.

Ive used the straps that have a camlock type thing, that you can release slowly and lower the gearbox slowly.

A trolley jack with a transmission adapter is as good as it gets, short of a hoist and transmission jack. The adapters are only 50 bucks from gasweld around these parts.

I have a 2inch body lift in mine, so its a little easier to get to the top bolts, although I have been known to sit on the engine and run my arm between the firewall and engine to get to the very top bolt with a ratchet spanner.

Last time I was swapping gearboxes, I have my trusty trolley jack with no trans adaptor thing, and cam lock straps too. Was a shitty way of doing it, but I was by myself, and it did make it a little bit easier to drop down.

Drop the box down with the jack, but have the straps wrapped around the chassis rails, to hold it when it got to a certain point, then repeat.
