School me on this Master Cylinder

Hey guys and gals,

Can you tell me if this is a standard Master cylinder off a mid 80's Range Rover Classic?




More specifically, I need to know how the twin cylinder setup works. I know that some Masters have a larger and a smaller dia piston, whereby the smaller one is used for the front brakes and the larger for the rear (less force due to larger vol). However this looks (externally) to have two identical sized cylinders.

We have Nissan GU diffs with single piston calipers. The idea is to run front brakes from one of the masters' cylinders (single brakeline either side) and the other cylinder to the rear brakes (via a cutting brake). However, if the cylinders are different diameter we want to get the brake bias correct. Or we may be totally off track )

Yep, std master cylinder.

Same size piston(primary and secondary).

rover use different size pistons at calipers as primary biasing.

You will need a biasing valve.

Is the second lower cylinder not the bias valve for the rear brakes?
I believe it feeds one front cylinder and bias single line to the rear diff?

The lower cylinder is the proportioning valve. Was hoping to bypass that. basically though, if both cylinders are the sme size, I should be able to run rear brakes off one, and front brakes off the other, with a hose joining both cylinders via the top fittings. ??
