Pics of how you ran power up to roof rack and what you used?

Post by kyzooper »

im still searching for the best way of running some led worklights off my roof rack but i dont really want to drill a hole in the roof!
Im driving a 80 series so the guys who have it easy with their utes running cabling up the roll bars need not post there pics cos it wont help me :finger: !!
i have seen one guys setup using trailer wire and plugs mounted on the roof rack but then how do you secure the wires running down around the rear doors. i have started installing a fused distribution block where the factory sub was. and im going to make up a switch plate on my rear drawers and two-way some of them to the front of the cab aswell. would love to see how everyone else has done so i can get mine up and running
Cheers

I never had power up there on the GU, the spotlights were on the front bar and the rear worklight on a telescopic pole arrangement off a Kaymar rear tyre bracket.
But I've seen power wires run alongside, or even inside a snorkel on the A pillar, then a short distance across the roof to the sill and then onto the roof rack.
or tucked into the B pillar and around the sill immediately above the join of the front and rear doors.
or coming out through a vent on the rear pillar and onto the sill, then the rack at the rear.
My friends aren't holding me back..... I'm pulling 'em forward.

I have just put an ARB roof rack on the Patrol. I bought it with light mounts, so am thinking about moving my light bar from the top of my bulbar up to the rack. I am thinking about running the power up the A pillar gutter, behind my snorkel, then to the rack and bar.

make sure your lightbar cant light up your bonnet. if its even remotely glossy like my 100 series the bonnet glows like a becon and makes it very hard for your eyes to contrast etc. basically makes it easier to see further with the lightbar off!
