I thought about it befour getting the 308 for mine but the main problem I had was bolting up a transfer case to the auto. BJ on Roids has done it in his rock rail but it is right on the end of the box and I think it would be way too long for a shortie, and that makes it a center output. I think the castlemane rod shop might do a plate to bolt the new motor up to a 4spd toyota but I wanted the auto too. The other issue I have herd of is the cover over the knock sensor is a doggey little plastic thing that might need something done with it, but I have never auctley seen one of the motors so I can't say for sure.

I think this would be a good motor for the 40 but at the end of the day I opted to go the tried and true path and keep the whole thing simple but don't let me put you off.

Get on to BJ about this coz he seem's to be the dude in the know. also try this link to this forum and ask those blokes. I think it has been done but not sure who has done it

The rod shop and dellow both do adaptors to almost any type of box you want to run behind it, if you want to run auto you would need another adaptor for the t case or you can make one like BJ did for the stock auto that comes behind the motor.

Hi The 1uzfe is thesame family of motors as the 2uzfe and 1fzfe both in cruisers, so a v8 cruiser box(man or auto) will fit up to a 1uzfe, or 2 or 3uzfe lexus 4.3.
The you can put a part time 80 series transfer in there or make it fulltime hey!

Forgot to mention, Toyota want $750 for the v8 bellhousing alone, but i think a v8 will match up to the 1fzfe bell all except the starter is in the valley and a small mod may need to take place (cut hump and tig back on)

Only the auto that comes standard with the 4lt will bolt up to the 1UZ-FE, the surf auto will bolt up but I think even it may need a few little things done but I`m not 100% on the surf auto.

Here is the email I got back from Castlemain Rod shop today about the adaptor for the 1UZ to standard hilux 5 speed (G52)

Our $1400.00 kit comes with flywheel, ring gear, pressure plate, clutch,
spigot bush, thrust bearing, bellhousing, fork, thrust carrier, pivot ball
etc. Later if you want to fit the bigger box send it back, we redrill and
dowel it and supply the spacer for $250.00.

Hi Guts
The first v8 100 series (GXV) came with the 2uzfe and A442 cruiser tranny, so i think the 1uzfe should fit the A442 with the appropriate bell from Toyota. The bolt pattern on the 1uzfe rear looks thesame as a 1fzfe, that is supposed to be from thesame engine family. Starter position is all that looks different....but im not talking from experiance here, just sharing what i have found out.
That kit would be thesame as the supra 5 speed kit they sell hey?

This one is for the G52 that comes standard in solid front hilux`s but for the $250 can be changed to take the supra. If this adaptor couldn`t be easly changed to take the stronger box I wouldn`t be getting it but since it can I will. I want to run a auto but its going to cost me more, be harder to fit and there for would take me longer to get it done. Now that I don`t drive the lux everyday for work I`m a real slack arse at getting things done on it if they aren`t easy

Ya possibly are correct that you could get different boxes etc to bolt up to it, but it would take a lot of home work in finding what bolted up to what and to be honest I couldn`t be bothered doing that

This would be the adaptor myself and Sam(Strange Rover) made for BJs auto. The Average guy prob couldn't make this adapter and it does make for a very long set up. Also we have had a couple of issues with the hilux transfer breaking output shafts. A better set up would be an adapter from the motor to a Turbo 700 to a cruiser transfer but its getting real expensive here. This is why we went the direction we did with robs as money was at a minimum.

I agree 100% and my long term plan for my lux is to put 80 series rear and 60 series front (can still run my high steer and longfields plus the 60 has the same r + p as the 80 and will make up differance in width with spacers) under it, then if I am having problems with the t case I`ll look at maybe!!!!!!!! putting cruiser t case in it.

Theres a lot of ifs, buts and maybes there but owell
