To all the teams at this years TT. Please accept a huge thanks from me and Steve for the respect and cooperation shown by you all that made our job so much more easier. We had very few "dramas" compared to past years. Thanks again.

To all of the Stage Managers, You did an excellent job, we only received praise not complaints about the manner that you ran the stages. It is a huge pity that some of you will return to competing next year as you have big shoes to fill. Thanks to you all, The cheques will be sorted soon. TRUST us.

Finally, Thanks must go to Pete, his vision and ideas for the future have not only raised TT to what we were all part of this year but will ensure the bar will be continually raised over the next years.

See you all in 2014

Tony and Steve

Massive thanks go out to Pete, Tony and Steve for all their hard work. You guys made the WA team feel very welcome.

To all the stage marshals, without you we would be just driving over some rocks. Sorry for all the broken bunting too haha.

The event as a whole was great fun and we look forward to coming back again next year.

Thanks to everyone from Team Outlaws 4x4.

I have no issue with you not liking the DVDs that Kev (KAMO) and I (Australian Images) used to do together.... You can't please all of the people all of the time....

However, I do take exception to the other statement. I have never participated in "scathing criticism of Simon and his crew", let alone done so "vocally". I've never really met Simon or any of his crew, for that matter. I think maybe I chatted briefly to Simon and Miranda at Woodpecker 2006 or 2007.

We (Kev and I) started doing DVDs by accident with Nissan Trials 2004, after being asked by the Nissan Club to do so after I had asked to do the stills. In 2005 they invited us back and we also approached the TLCC to do Wilowglen, who were happy for us to cover it. In 2006 we were approached by On All 4's to do Woodpecker as well, and then by Canobolas to do Toperi in 2008. In 2009, we got a call from the Tuff Truck team to do that event and when Pete took over, he asked us to do the 3 years from 2010-2012.

We'd gradually cut back on events from 2009, with me lacking time and Kev having some medical issues. By 2011, we'd stopped doing video at everything but Tuff Truck. Earlier this year, we discussed Tuff Truck with Pete. He said they wanted to get 4WDTV for 2013, and we said we really wanted to pull out anyway. So ended our DVD production. I'm much happier doing stills, and Kev is making sets for plays.

I bear no ill-will towards Simon and his crew whatsoever, and I admire the time and effort he's put in to 4WDTV etc over the last 10 years or so.

And you think the ones by 4wd tv were better? For some reason every aus 4wd DVD had shitty music and Witt no music you listen to Simons droning voice for the whole DVD!

Should get heavy metal concepts over from the states to make a decent DVD!
The problem with music here is that we had to take what we could get for free. We once tried to use commercial music, but were quoted $20,000 for one song, repeated once on one title. I'm not sure if it's different in the US.

There's very little money in doing the 4WD DVDs in Australia, and sales are falling not increasing. With the exception of Tuff Truck, I don't think anyone is making DVDs of NSW events any more. There's not even enough money in it to cover expenses any more, which is a pity.

I agree that the US titles are really good. Probably helps that they have such a big market, making the production viable.

Out of interest, I watched the Finke Australian Off Road Championship update on 7Mate recently. Would it be the Channel 7 money that allowed them to have several popular current songs as soundtrack?

Music is different for TV. They can pay quite a low rate for commercial music.

It's also cheap if you restrict sales of the DVD to people who "appear in it". For example, a wedding video. You just buy a flat rate licence and use whatever music you want.

But if you want to produce a DVD for open sale, then you have to negotiate rates with the record companies.

Personally, I enjoyed the Kamo made TTC DVDs. I cant stand hearing Simon Christies annoying drone voice rattle on and on with inaccurate tech info, and his take on the events.
Im sure hes a good bloke, and Ive never met him, but what he did to the TTC event last time he did the DVD, was just shit. Showing drunk people yelling and carrying on. Im surprised he was asked to do it again.
This years DVD was way less than impressive. No idea why he would put out a highlights DVD with the amount of cameras he had there, and the amount of footage he claimed to have.
Seriously, there was events missing from the DVD(fri night mudrun, sat night Dobbin drive), and dont get me started on the ads and leaderboard crap.

The 2011 DVD was great, easy to follow, good music, lots of great angles, footage, Ricks commentary and track explanations, a good balance of music and event noise.
Havent seen 2012 DVD, but this years was a massive let down.

Just my opion
