This has been going on for quite a while now.
I originally did and exchange power steer box and pump for my cruiser due to oil leaks. It then sat around for awhile, long enough for warranty to expire , while I made some changes. So when I go to move it there is no power steer at all. It does lighten up when you are moving.
I have checked all steering components, dropped all the steering arms, taken off the steering damper even took the wheels off at sat the swivel hubs on some large ball bearings everything turns ok and is not tight but soon as I put it on the ground and start it up you basically have to put your whole body into turning the wheel.
In the process I have changed out 2 sets of exchange power steer pumps and steering box's and still the same problem, Thank fully the supplier has helped out even though it was out of warranty, up to now. I have been given their suppliers number to call and sort it out.
Does any body have any Ideas?
Thanks
Gavin

Re: 75 series 2h power steer problems
I can't help with your power steering, but I'm keen for an update on the big bus. How did it turn out? Have you got a build thread?

Re: 75 series 2h power steer problems
How have you been bleeding it? and have you confirmed fluid flow? Could be a restriction somewhere, faulty/sticking relief, crimped line. The lines the right way around on the box?

Canyonero this link should get you to some photos of build.
The Arkana was finished and registered in 2009. It only stayed that way till last year. I chopped the back off and made it into an extended trayback

hulsty
I have bled the system every time according to the manual. What I didn't do is check for flow I figured I shouldn't need to with exchange units. and I put air through all the pipes and hoses
What I am planning to do is get a hold of some old pipes and modify them to fit a pressure gauge and see what they are reading.
I have changed the steering shaft uni's and they are binding at all.
The pipes are different sizes and cant be mixed up.
One thing though when I got the exchange pumps they were supplied with 2 copper washers and I have no idea where they go, I didn't pull any out either

Re: 75 series 2h power steer problems
Copper washers might be to shim the relief valve, you can shim it for higher pressure.
