Scenic Rim Adventure Park needs help to stay open

Post by SIM79 »

Dear friends and clients

As you know for the past eight months Brian and Wendy Harris the owners of 636 Tamrookum Creek Road Tamrookum Creek have been trying through the court appeals process to get SR regional council to come to a mutual agreement and have their property zoning changed for the purpose this land has been used for the past 38 years with Meer-Bunn-Bia bush camping and recreational activities.

Financially it has been a huge undertaking by both parties.

We are now in the final stages of the appeal and will be heard 24 March by an independent interstate judge. For this final stage it is key for us at Scenic Rim Adventure Park to prove the NEED for our business in this area as a tourist attraction, the benefit to the Scenic Rim Region and the wider community need for a camping and recreational venue which is Scenic Rim Adventure Park.

We are not asking people to make a political stance the courts will make the final decision it is out of our hands.

We have received a lot of face to face and email support but we now need to have it on paper so are asking if you feel you can support us again or if you have a contact of a local business we need support in a letter form by Friday 28th with name, address and signature if possible. If you can scan and email that would be the quickest.

Sorry if you have already received this email.

We look forward to supporting our local community and being able to save this unique property and its history.

Kind regards

Brian and Wendy Harris 0458 406 236

Scenic Rim Region is a beautiful area with lots of different outdoor experiences for everyone located just over an hour’s drive from the Brisbane or the Gold Coast.

Our family enjoy camping and there are a number of camping places around Scenic Rim Adventure Park (SRAP) but all these camping spots have everyone in the same large open paddock and on holiday weekends are usually packed out.

SRAP offers different camping opportunity as they have a number of small areas set aside for camping where at times you can feel like you are the only ones on the property. There are lots of native animals because they have not cleared the bush. You can have a campfire in designated site at their park which you can’t at some of the other places.

Other places around the area have dams or running river on their park but we like going to SRAP because we have a four wheel vehicle and to get to the campsite or moving around the property you have to use four wheel drive low gear which is a fun experience our family likes and something we are unable to do elsewhere. They have lots of trails that suit our car without the risk of damage to our vehicle and provide a safe and fun environment for our family outings.

Speaking to the family who own the property you can see they have a lot of plans to improve and have done a lot in the past years but if they can clear all the weeds and get the rope activities the property will be an awesome place to visit.

Having Beaudesert and Rathdowney so close is good because it is not too far to go if we have forgotten something. With a number of petrol stations on the way home making sure we have enough fuel isn’t a problem unlike some of the other places who offer off-road four wheel driving in Queensland.

Scenic Rim Adventure Park is a privately run recreational park, with tracks that are only accessible by four wheel drives, they have maps, signage, track grading which provides anyone visiting the park a safe and secure venue to explore and experiment in low gear four wheel driving.

We hope that you can identify with the millions of Australian four wheel drivers that we need places such as Scenic Rim Adventure Park to enable us to enjoy our recreational outdoor activity.

These days we are looking for affordable holidays and SRAP offer this to us and so many in families that have a family four wheel drive. We can enjoy SRAP for a day visit or a weekend, the need for SRAP is real to us and we hope they get their application approved so we can enjoy all this property has to offer all year round.
