Hilux ifs rears with new hilux springs

Post by WallyLux »

Hi has anyone done the ifs rears swap on a solid axle hilux using springs from a current model hilux? As far as I can work out they are the same 51" curve length as earlier ifs springs but flatter. Different camber, so they might be too long.

I think you will find that the locating pin is in a different position to the older IFS springs

Not what your asking but someone may want to know
I have standard 07/08 rear springs in the back of my ln106 duel cab
It moved my diff back 65mm - I installed a driveshaft spacer,
I ground off the old shackle bracket and purchased new ones - moved it back 65mm
Then got 5.5 in shackles and it rides so much better now

Note: the shackles now are at 45 degrees and flexes well
Also
Thats alloy tray no weight

Thanks. I haven't measured an early ifs spring to compare but the pin on the late model one is further back. Did you fellas have to relocate the shackle mount or are you using factory hangers?

Sorry, you already said you had to move it. I'm guessing you're running inverted shocks?
With the 5.5" shackles have you got the shackle bolted through the chassis or hanging underneath?

What sort of ride height did you end up with? Did you use the whole standard pack or remove leaves. Thanks for your help by the way.

I used the full set of leaves when I swapped over

As for ride height , it is higher than standard , but I can measure for you tonight

Ground to the bottom of the chassis ok
