Spartacus

Mine is same specs, I have lifted suspension, and 2 inch body lift. Its also a daily driver. Forget the extended shackles, theyre different widths at chassis and spring, also illegal.
Have a look through my pics at what I have done http://groups.msn.com/AussieDaihatsuRoc ... w?Page=1ne.

Not recommendable to have spring over axle. Dad tried it once and he says it is a bit ch to drive on the road. Though ground clearence is good but u must still remember something called center of gravity plus the lowest part of the car from the car to the ground is still your diff.
Also i believe u affect your driveline and your steering and so on and so forth. Geometry goes haywired too.

I heard there are cons with shackle lifts but then again i guess those who shackle lift their suspension only do the rear shackle but they dont modify the other side.
Hence i believe u have to increase the height of the 2 mounting points evenly. Even the damper mountings have to be modified by lowering it.

I'm running a shackle lift for the rear( both the mounting points and the dampers mounting modified).
But my dad only modified the front shackle(rear thingy only).
Though i heard it is not too good for the springs and the u bolts but then again i guess it is better than affecting the overall castor which will result in giving crappy steering.
Bottom line i guess shackle lifts has its pros and cons but i gather it is not really recommended unless neccessary like our stupid leaf spring under axle. Oh well...... just by 2 cents.

U mean fox tails as in 2 tail pipes at the rear?
Hehe
So your mum go the inspiration from Sonic's sidekick, Tails.

44inch boggers?
hehe

Well how about considering portal axles, then u can have all the lift u want and the extra gear reductin to allow u to plonk on bigger tyres.

decided to go wrecker shopping soon to find leaves taller and longer.
which brings up a question that bugs me:
question: which way should the shackles face? does it matter?

a) \___/

b) /___\

finally got pic for all to be jealous of :finger:
(dont laugh to hard u might break a rib)

LATEST UPDATE

stupid POS has cost more than what its worth.

today the breaks were squeekin so me dad took it the brake
n gearbox guy.

it turns i the following is rooted:

1. Solenoid to engage 4 high (button on the dash)
2. Water seeped into tranny and its rooted.
3. gearbox is basically rooted an whines over 60k's
4. rear drums need to be replaced cause of previous
owners beach work.

i already now that zook would have been better too start with.

however persistance is the key, and once fixed im gonna thrash
er for every cent its cost me too fix her, then tube the lot.[/b]

i am wondering is that the full articulation you have shown in the pics as my standard surf has nearly twice the flex of that in the picture i could have driven right over the top of the ramp and no im not being nasty it just doesnt seem to be very flexy

This is the flex i got out of my rocky, there is more but the ditch wasnt deep enough. Needed body lift, as tyres touched, and front shocks were too short. For sale too if anyone intereted ;)
