76 series auto conversion

76 series auto conversion
I am now looking at keeping the 76, but it needs the POS midgets clutch pedal and box of spanners gone ASAP.
The main issue is the tiny foot well with my size 12 feet, as there is no room beside the clutch. City driving is terrible, and I am doing it at least once a week for most of the day.
Does anyone know if the 200 series auto unit would be a straight forward swap?
I would imagine the bell housings would be identical.
I see for 18k you can get wholesale autos to do and older auto, but that is some BIG $.
Be better off selling the 76 and getting a GX 200 for that money.
I like the Allison 1000 option, but it means a new bell & transfer case ect.. and I am time poor at the moment.

I think marks are doin a kit for the 6l80? Something about it on lcool.
May aswell strap the 2nd turbo on while your at it if you go for a 200 auto.

I have a Mate that builds them and even at his price its an expensive choice. We looked at putting one in my GU but just wasn't worth it.

Don't forget that the front tailshaft for the auto box/transfer is on the left hand side instead of the right hand side. Which means it will never line up with front diff. No idea if the 76 transfer will even fit to the auto box.

Twin turbo won't fit without them being top mounted or remote mounted.
Wholesale trans quoted me $22k with brand new box. And its only a 4 speed td100 auto.
Thought the 200 auto woulda been easier. If love an auto in my ute but big $$$

It is something I want to do under the EVA banner, and install for customers, so I'll see what they come up with.

They replied and said no dealer price yet, and they will let me know.
Those boxes are only 3-4k new if you look around, bell 1k, controller 1k, rear transfer adapter $500, Rad 1k
Would have thought the kit would have been 8 or so?
I might have to do the Allison kits!

They are not a 'special' box by any means (common as)
The 6l80e is identical - although has narrower gears with slightly reduced torque loadings.
Eg crate 6l80e complete in Aus for $2650 http://holmart.com.au/online/prod355.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I think this box would be plenty behind the small output of our trucks.
I did some digging around for the 6l90 a while back, and they are very similar in price.
The Allison is a different league all together and is built for aftermarket use. They have 3 speed sensors from the factory etc.
Have a look in my tt build thread for a pic.
I can get hold of the output to transfer adaptor already - so It's just a bellhousing that is needed.
I am at a loss as to why development seems to cost a lot?
I would think it would be a matter of grabbing Solid works, aligning 2 drawn faces, machine a pattern and sand cast / machine the finished part.
Sure 5k would cover that. I gues setting up the controller would take some time.
I would love to do it - but I'm so time poor ATM!

Year don't understand the crazy costs. And that's why the wholesale conversion is crazy expensive!
But I don't think the adapting is the hard part. They still have to control it and then package it do its "kit" compatible. They said the transfer mounts etc are all the same and the interior would be a pain to retro fit and keep it clean! But still doesn't make it that expensive!
