Best 12v air compressor?
Hi all,
I am looking for a serious duty 12v air compressor,
Every one I have seen so far are pretty b grade, and I would not fit to my own vehicle - so I couldn't sell them to our customers.
Must be capable of pumping 8x 37" tyres from 15-30psi.
Happy to look at industrial units, and budget of up to 1k if need be.
Endless air do not do a bracket and I am too time poor to develop one.
Best regards,
Justin

Re: Best 12v air compressor?
Bru I ran the ARB twin motor unit in the TJ running 37"s, was really good. Aired up all 4 quite quickly.
Plus it was relatively compact for its output, and it's rebuildable as its basically two of their normal compressors bolted together. Parts are readily available.
Whilst I never tested it, it's said you can run air tools off it.
With a budget of $1,000 you could almost get two of these working in conjunction via an air tank, that would be really fast.

Re: Best 12v air compressor?
I got the single arb
done alot of work with it
will go the dual arb next time
wiring has been iffy around the connections.
plugs have melted on the old school and current single arb stuff
very reliable otherwise
Just upgrade the connections nearest compressor if you were going to add it to your range
this is where all mine have melted.
The boss is exactly same output by the way...
Cheers

The Boss might compare to the single ARB, But its no comparison to the twin ARB.CRUZAAMAD wrote: The boss is exactly same output by the way...

I replaced my Boss compressor with the twin ARB.

Re: Best 12v air compressor?
Thanks guys,
I have found a massive unit from the states - draws 150A and has a continuous rating. Suitable for air tools without a tank! About 3k though.
I'll have a look at the twin ARB's, that said I have purposely avoided ARB over the last 5 years, due to having a major issue with every item I purchased.
Cheers bru

Whilst from my experience the twin ARB is better than the Boss compressor, I dont think id like ether in a commercial apllication.bru21 wrote:

Re: Best 12v air compressor?
The guys at sidewinder ABR do a decent sized 12 volt compressor with tank. While it's a chinese made unit the guy who owns ABR is an electrical engineer and does some really nice stuff. I had his isolators in all my cars and they've worked flawlessly for years

Re: Best 12v air compressor?
Yep, had an ABR Sidewinder in 2 x Jeeps and now the BT, works a treat.rockcrawler31 wrote: I had his isolators in all my cars and they've worked flawlessly for years

Re: Best 12v air compressor?
Don't get one of these:
It has a tank and half decent CFM (can't recall off the top of my head) but I've had to replace some components and now the pump hardly works at all (I am yet to get into the guts of it to find out why)..
so a fter a few years I would say they just don't go the distance..

Re: Best 12v air compressor?
Thanks for that. I nearly bought one a few months back - but they only had 24v in stock.
I have become a dealer for the best, most powerful 12v compressor available. Getting final pricing now.
They are $1900USD but used by the military etc. Draw up to 180A and put out 15 CFM at 0psi and 9cfm at 50psi.
Basically a York compressor with a continuous duty 2.2hp motor.
Big dollars, but I will not have Chinese crap on my website or for sale as it only weakens our brand.
I have not found anything else I could put my name to.
Have looked at pacbrake - but cannot find the Australian dealer yet, and extreme aire are about to be no longer supplied in aus.
I'm going to keep working on it, and find something better value.
Your input is appreciated fellas.
Cheers Bru

Re: Best 12v air compressor?
Wouldn't the $1900 price tag make you time rich to develop an endless air bracket?
The wiring and switching would be a few hundred $ alone to run what you are planning on.

Re: Best 12v air compressor?
No to mention the extra noise! Unless the the electric compressor noise we hear is the piston?
Re: Best 12v air compressor?
Pfft... like you worry about noise - you are as deaf as I am.
Endless air is on its way (great minds think alike). Hopefully see it tomorrow, so I can develop it over the weekend. Hours of fun I am sure!
EVA endless air is coming to a dealer near you!

Re: Best 12v air compressor?
WHAT?
Even to run my boss compressor the recommended way cost over $200 in wires and switches. A customer could have 2x endless airs (if there is room on the engine) for less than 2/3 price and pump twice the cfm.
Cant wait to see the next developments....due for beers
